Right so i think i have a problem. I have an exam on monday in a subject that i have only attended once (save for 3 phase tests which i sorta guessed at) so i basically have today to learn it - and here i am chatting on SF! Im a really laid back calm person who doesnt panic about anything as i know that panicing helps nothing and if i panic then i cant concentrate anyways. (In fact if i am actually really worried about something i tend to laugh instead). While all my mates frantically try to finish assignments etc on the day they are due i find myself chatting on msn etc.

Do other ppl do this and is there a cure? Whats the biggest thing youve put-off or stayed calm about? :help:

The ironic thing with me is that while im the calmest person i know, i suffer (quite badly) from psoriasis, which is caused by stress - work that one out?!?! :loopy:

I know the feeling exactly. I don't have any motivation for revising until it feels really urgent and the panic sets in. Luckily I'm quite enjoying most of the subjects I'm doing at the moment so read about them anyway but a couple haven't received the attention they need quite yet!

Good luck! Hope you manage to get it well and truly crammed

If anyone knows bout databases - oracle/sql and would like to sit my exam for me i will pay them hansomly in beer and they will be invited to attend our post-exam p***-up :D Other places on said p***-up are available should anyone wish to help console me after i fail :help:

This is what I do, but then when panic sets in I tell myself its too late to do anything and end up doing nothing. This is probably why I only just scrape through most things in life

Yes.. My other half leaves all her uni work to the minute :suspect:

Then gets in a fluster bless er'!

Only thing I have left late is finding somewhere to live in the next 4 weeks!

haha very good :P

omg i still havent done anything, the prob is cherrynicole, that the panic just never does actually set in! Maybe if all of us procrastinators did each others work for a change of scene then we'd appreciate out own and make effort to do it sooner?

Place still available to sit my exam for me - any takers?

God, I leave EVERYTHING to the last minute!

Mind you, there was a test on Brainiacs the other day (they used the Cheeky Girls as their testers cos they're twins) to see whether people work better under stress or when calm. The stressed one did better.

How come you can't revise over the weekend?

I learnt my entire Maths A Level in one night (had missed a years worth of lectures pretty much).

Only got a D though...

Good luck,

hi, i know exactly how you feel, im in the middle of revising for exams at the minute (and theyre all next week!!) i had all over christmas to do it but didnt really get started until last weekend (when i had flu so didnt get much done anyway) and even now when im panicking so much about failing i still find myself thinking oh well ill just watch tv for half an hour or ill just have a look on the internet for a bit and before you know it its monday morning and im looking down at a property law exam paper thinking aaaahhhh i dont know anything!!!!!!!

dont worry, you're not on your own, and if we both fail ill join you on that p**s up :)

just try not to stress about it coz that never helps, just relax and try and let things sink in and you'll be fine!

good luck

lol.............. I'm about to set off for York with a research paper that I'm completing now!!!!
I still have not packed my things, as well as doing other stuff, and I'm on the forum?????

I can't operate unless it's last minute, got too many balls to juggle.

My new Years resolution was to accpet that I do things last minute )I still get it done in the right manner), thus avoiding the panic about it.

I'm very last minute. The UCAS deadline is on Sunday, I've only just contacted my old tutor and my boss TODAY about a reference. I haven't started the form, I'm at work with loads to do, need to complete the form on-line, don't have the internet at home (erm) and I decided what I wanted to do when I left college in 2001.

Only had 5 years to sort it out...

Computing visualisation, but this is just one module bout databases that has no relavence whatsoever to rest of degree :loopy: I think the exam is worth summat like 28% of module, done 3 phase tests which managed to average bout 30% on pure guesswork but dunno what theyre worth but need 40% of whole module to pass or i resit it next yr (well yr after maybe cos next yr is placement so dunno how it works) :(

Good luck with research paper Titian :)

I've always been a procrastinator. I've read that it's really common among perfectionists... we figure, in our own crazy logic, that if we don't start something, we can't fail.

I work at a newspaper, where the ability to write "on deadline" is highly prized. I think I do my best writing when the pressure is on, an editor is pacing around and the clock is ticking. I love that adrenalin rush, so I always push my deadlines even if it's not breaking news.
