Hi, was wondering if anyone could help me with my laptop plaese.. I have a Sony Vaio and during the day I dont switch it off totally as im always back and forth to it, so all I do is close the lid.. When I come back to it though and lift the lid again the screen is blank and I have to keep shutting and opening the lid numerous times to get the screen back on. I have tried shutting down pc altogther and re-booting, but still nothing.. Sometimes it takes me a good 5mins to get it up going again.. Getting a bit fed-up with it now, so please has anyone got any idea as to what might be wrong or do you know someone that could maybe take a look at it cheaply if possible.. Only had the laptop just over a year, so still fairly new..

When you close the lid, it should be hitting a little plastic clip that pushes down and comes up when lifted. Is this jammed down?

Another thing it could be... Microsofts standby mode on a laptop can be a pain in the ass. If you are leaving it plugged in all day. Change the power settings to off and set your screen saver to 5mins.

If the battery life is bad, well not bad, but not long, when in stand by and not plugged in the power can go and the laptop will hibernate, with my laptop and it sounds the same as yours, I open it turn the power on and soemtimes have to hit the sleep clip (the one lickable just said about) If that isnt your problem i suggest you look at the power options in comtrol panel, should be in maintanence--->power options---> power schemes.

For me it says when the laptop is running off baterys, i selected 'never turn monitor off' if this is switched to something like 2 hourse, this will be your problem
