i read in a forum that a good 128MB Graphics card will easily outperform a cheap 256MB Graphics card, based on that info, i was wondering if anyone knew whether a good (AGP) Graphics card would be better than a cheap (PCI-E) Graphics card as PCI-E is newer & faster technology.
thanks

It mostly depends on the model you are talking about.
Post your options?
It's not all about the memory size, but the clock speed and memory speed of the card. (How fast it can process the data and store/retrieve it from the memory)
The speed is indeed dictated by the GPU, not the memory, but many games need a shed load of that too so if I were you I'd get a 256.
AGP vs PCI Ex depends on your motherboard and what it will take.
If you're buying new don't bother with AGP, it's dead!

That was my statement.
MY single computer statement is you normally GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR in computer components. If you find a cheap component it will be substandard or obsolete and i find this especially true of graphics cards.
A decent graphics card will be hards to come by this side of £100. The more you spend the better you get TO A POINT.
Eventually in computers you get as much power as you need for a good price then above that every minor improvement is relatively expensive by comparison.
eg £350 will buy a good BASE unit
£700 will buy a very good base unit probably around 75% faster
£1050 will buy an expensive base unit but it will probably be only 10% faster so you dont get much more for your money.
thats my opinion anyhow

Check out the VGA charts at Tomshardware. See link.
Work out what you want to spend, look for cards on Ebuyer or whereever and look them up on Toms VGA charts.
Very valuable information.
