msbehavin 12-01-2006, 11:05 Ok then. Got a good response earlier about new Fox alloys for my car so here's another poser for you.
Who's best for car insurance? Mine has lapsed and I need a good quote (ie cheap). Recommendations anyone?
PS - Cannot beleive I have resorted to doing such DULL threads. Do be assured that once my problematic life has been sorted then normal Forum service will be resumed as soon as possible...
Try Swinton. I have been with them for 2 years and found them cheeper than anyone else when I rang for quotes.
absynthfairy 12-01-2006, 11:22 I *heart* the AA. Been with them for 5 years and get a very reasonable quote considering my 2 crashes and 6 speeding points! Also when I had one of said crashes I had a brand new gti golf delivered to my door within the hour of writing off my old knackered written off H plate mini! Very impressive.
Would recommend http://www.confused.com as a starting point - worth the time filling out the form.
happysherpa 12-01-2006, 11:25 Quote me Happy :D
budget insurance good. Also if you're in Woodseats pop into that insurance place near Woodseats school let them do the work for you!
It really depends on your personal circumstances (i.e. previous accidents/points).
I have always found directline.com beat everyone - for me and various family members (they also do interest free montly payments)...with a 10% discount online.
I always quote with others to see if things have changed (tesco, aa, sheila's wheels) but direct line do come up best.
Just as a bonus though...if anyone is with direct line and coming up for renewal, by quoting online as a new customer, you would still get your discount...i.e they sent me my renewal and when I quoted online, it came up about £100.00 cheaper - this isn't good but they still beat everyone else!
Good luck..
We did exactly the same with Direct Line and got it £1000 (that's one thousand) cheaper by quoting online.
I used www.confused.com too!
They search 100's of companies and give you the cheapest deal!
-x-
I would recomend confused.com (www.confused.com) too! brill place to start, but I ended up going with Tesco (http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/insurance/carins/index.jsp) :)
neeeeeeeeeek 12-01-2006, 12:21 Try Spire in Chesterfeld. They are a brokers but are quite cheap.
alchresearch 12-01-2006, 12:24 I've used Zurich for years, nobody can come anywhere near their quotes for me.
Kthebean 12-01-2006, 12:27 MsB,
Would you like me to sing you the Sheila's Wheels song?
natzmatt 12-01-2006, 13:38 Im with easymoney.com, they were the cheapest for me but it all depends on individual circumstancesw, so id advise confused.com aswell if easymoney aren't for you. xx
use confused then go to the insurers direct.
express insurance & ladybird were cheapest for 20 year old TPFT on a suzuki 4x4.(£450)
A.B.Yaffle 12-01-2006, 16:19 "more than" are good, and cheap too.
fruit&nut 12-01-2006, 16:22 try lloyds tsb online
bjshooter 12-01-2006, 16:50 Confused. com are fab it pulls up all insurence companies for you, there was a £1500 difference between the cheapest and the most expensive for ours and its only an old Punto. Cheapest was Quinn direct, most expensive was Norwich union.

Leave now please!
It's interesting to note that Sheila's Wheels are part of Esure. Try getting quotes from them both and see the difference.
Ditto with Lloyds TSB - I got a quote from them which came from Churchills. Thinking cutting out the middleman would save money I contacted Churchill to find the quote £100 dearer!

I used the AA and ended up with Fortis and they was half the price of sheilas wheels.
agree with patchy, we used more than for our car and it was 200 quid cheaper than direct line, although if you try confused.com first as others have said it wil bring a list of the best deals up for you.
caramac55 12-01-2006, 21:06 I know its already been said, but we always used direct line as they were always the cheapest for us, for some reason this year when we tried getting quotes the AA were cheaper by a mile.
All insurance is good when taking your money, its the paying out when problems come up. This is the ? how good at paying out.
Moneysaving Expert (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1092813037,41960,) is also worth a read
