i have had the usual annual gas safety check provided by the council through Kier, the two guys checked the boiler and said everything was fine, and that it had passed its annual check, however later i found the boiler was leaking water and sent for out of hours council workers who said they would have to isolate the boiler for safety reasons, my question is are these workers really qualified to carry out these tests as my boiler was working fine before they came, can you actually believe these people when they say your gas appliance is safe to use!

If it was leaking water its nothing to do with gas side of things, if its a modern boiler they will have checked the seals, working/burner pressure, and flue checks, kier only have gas safe registered engineers checking out their appliances, after all its in their best interests or Mr HSE will be come knocking !

Last year a guy from Alcho came to do mine. He said the fire had to be condemned as someone had fitted a wooden case round it & it was dangerous. He wouldn't have it that nobody had made a wooden case for it, that was how the fire was made & was put in by the Housing Association when the house was modernised. So he stuck a big sticker on it, switched the gas off & told me not to use it as the chimney was also blocked.

For some reason they went out of business & a different firm came round this year. Apparently the chimney wasn't blocked and the fire wasn't dangerous. He said he didn't know what the other bloke was talking about.

How did you manage to get the gas re-connected after Alcho had tuned it off?

He only turned it off under the fire.
