I'm looking to buy a house in the not too distant future (maybe around 6 months ish)
Max cost around 60,000
A reasonably friendly/safe area (not too many robberies, muggings, drive by shootings etc)
Probably 2 bedroom, but maybe 3 if in an area where I can rent out a room easily
Good transport links to Town & Meadowhall (ie 1 bus/tram ride)
Max cost around 60,000
I'm thinking I'd prefer somewhere within striking distance of Hillsborough, but I'm ope to suggestion if house prices are to mad there.
All suggestions/advice ratefully received

You may get a a one or two bed in hackenthorpe... i just bought a house there... feels safe and hasnt had tooo many problems in the past few years
The purchase price of a house only look realistic about 6 months after you have bought it.
It doesn't really matter when you get on the ladder, just get on it and think of England at the beginning of the month when the mortgage goes out.

It does seem that you need to add 10 grand to the asking price to actually get something so dont be fooled! A friend who bought a mid terrace in walkley 4 years ago for £53000 just sold. she put it on the market for £100000, it sold for £128000! different area I know but scarey none the less. My place in Burngreave was up for £65000 and I paid £75000 for it, that was a over 1 year ago, things dont seem to have got any better...
Good luck!

Hmmmm when I bought last year, I got the house for a few £k under the asking price.
Maybe that was a one off in my situtation, as the seller wasn't in a chain and I was a first time buyer.
I did lose out on a few houses that did go above the asking price tho'
