hi,

does anyone know if you can use plain flour with a bit of baking powder instead of self raising flour?

And if so, how much baking powder should I use to get the same effect?

thanks

Yes!

The ammount varies slightly depending upon what you are baking but a general guideline is;

4 teaspoons for every 8oz of flour.

thank you!

I bought wholemeal flour to make some scones and then found out the recipe takes selfraising and it seemed a shame not to be able to use the flour I'd bought.

:clap:

I usually use a tablespoon of baking powder to 8 oz of strong wholemeal flour.
