Anyone else follows the darts?
Its the only "sport" I watch and enjoy every year!

This evening was worth watching - the rather lovely Jelle Klaasen beat The King with some quality darts all round. Three 180s in a row!
Its upset the whole chamionship.

Barneveld still has to throw and although Hanvidge V Whitlock was a bit drab (caught the last couple of legs, at least we got rid of the Australian), O'Shea is still to play.
And nice to see Dame Bobby George still draped in gold!

Predictions people?

Come on Jelle! :heyhey:

"YYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS, thats the game,shot"

Fancy Barnevald to storm it again.

Don't know the draw but suspect it will be him against O'Shea in the final.

I have also been following the darts.... I am liking Klassen, he played brilliant tonight, at 4-1 up, I thought he had it all sown up, but came back the other fella, and Klassen won the last set... brill stuff.

I dont know the draw, but will go look, I fancy a Barneveld vs Klassen final, if they are not in the same half.

[edit] had a look at the draw and it could well be the final

lol, still no idea who you're on about. So there's one skinny fella?

(ps. only said in jest, portraying the stereotypical darts player before you start listing all of the skinny darts players in the world)

lol, ooooohh, how about 'the traditional view of a darts player' or 'the popualr conception of a darts player'?

Anyway, best not get too off topic...darts on telly is top entertainment and it's great to watch.

Whatever happened to Leighton Rees, Cliff Lazarenko or the "Kirkady Kid" Jocky Wilson! That's when darts was a proper tv spectacular.

Such elite sportsmen......:hihi:

Brilliant final - i havent watched darts in a while the young kid was quality although Barney let him off with his poor finishing.

On a different tack, which championship is considered the 'best', which attracts the better players?? Phil Taylor won £100,000 for thier world champs but Klaasen only pocketed £60,000. (Have I answered my own question?). Who would win, Taylor'v' Barney???

Yes Klassen did play well, he hit is doubles well, and got some big scores.

I do feel Barney slipped up on a few occasions, his doubles were not going in .. and thats wot darts is all about and Klassen took advantage.

well, form the games i caught from both championships, the standard seemed higher in phil taylors championship (don't follow it enough to know the name).

but i maybe wrong, what we'd need is everybodys averages from the championships

One of the best finals I've seen in a while at the lakeside. I think what was troubling Barneveld the most, was trying to emulate Eric Bristow's five wins, and that showed during the match. Every credit to Jelle Klaasen. A worthy winner and one whom I'm sure we'll see a lot of at future Lakeside tournaments. One day I'll go down there to watch it. The atmosphere must be electric

The championship that is considered best is the one on skysports purely because thats where most of the best players turn to for the money but the bdo championship is the one most recognised.Taylor did play barney a couple of years back and trounced him 17-3 although this year i was very impressed with the final between klaasen & barney.
