To follow on the Ecclesall/Ecclesall Road debate.
Roads are often named after the direction/destination they follow. Therefore we have London Rd,Manchester Rd, Hathersage Rd. Abbey Lane leads to Beauchief Abbey etc
Ecclesall Rd leads to Ecclesall and Ecclesall Rd. South leads to Ecclesall from the South.
As to murders, an old lady was bludgeoned in a flat above a hairdressers on Eccy Rd (near the junction with Carrington Rd) several years ago. I can't remember if anyone was nicked but a policewoman doing "door to door" accused my wife!
