I have just been informed by my employer that I will only be paid the normal rate of pay for the 27th December. In my terms and conditions of employment it states that I will be paid double time for Bank Holidays. I am now confused and don't know where I stand. Can anyone help please??
yes it was. Xmas day fell on a sunday, so the bh moved to 27th.
I suppose that if you normally work Sundays and got that off instead then they might be counting that as your bh.
I work on nights on a rota, worked 26th 27th 28th only ended up with 4 hours at double time for the 26th upto midnight. Feel like I've been robbed!
ask them for an explanation.
Yeh, I'm going to. I just needed to go in with a bit of ammunition. Felt a bit of a fool when mentioning it to them the first time. They reacted as though I was stupid or something. Made out it wasn't a bank holiday. Anyway that was the icing on the cake, I'm looking for a new job!

Print that page out and show it to your boss. Tell him if you don't get the money you're due, you'll see him in an Employment Tribunal.
