Hi all
Just purchased a '95 Subaru Impreza WRX import:D (midlife crisis so my wife says) and was wondering if any owners of similar performance cars would be interested in getting together for meets / trips / rallies etc.
Hope to hear from you soon.

You might want to try there, i'm sure there will be some local scooby owners.
So what year/mods has the car got?

Already looked on Scoobynet and can't find anything at all for this area. Plenty of stuff in the North East / Manchester / South etc. hence the thread

As for mine
95 WRX import in white
STi front, rear wing and side skirts all colour coded
GReddy gauges galore inside
Greddy dump valve
K+N cone filter
Partial decat (one instead of two) followed by a HKS stainless system finishing off with a 5" tailpipe
Thats it, pretty unmolested really cos it's all mostly cosmetic.

Only a 5" tailpipe !!

I know, I know but it was already fitted when it was imported and I couldn't be bothered to change it. It does make a nice noise though:wow:

Well, getting back to the original subject ...
I have now found out that every first Monday in the month there is a meeting at the Carbrook Hall opposite the retail park.
It's not just for scoobs but for all performance cars so lets hope that maybe we can swell the ranks just a little huh?
By the way, it starts around 7:30pm.
You coming in March to show your EVO off pjay?

I have a question for all the performance car drivers/owners..
WHY???

Why are you buying souped up cars so you can go on 'meets' and 'cruises'
I know teens and chavs do it, how old are you all?

Its a bit sad really isnt it for grown men to be still playing around like they are still teenagers.

AND for the love of god, dont all go congrigating around the area where I live, because if I hear another 'performance car' coming down my road with its music blaring and its 'arsehole exhaust' coughing and spluttering I am ringing the police with your reg plate ID.

Its not big- its not clever and I didnt move to area I am in now to have the peace and quiet spoiled by blokes pretending they are teens.

Here is an idea - Treat your lasses to nice things instead- more of a 'man' thing to do

Having an interest IS a 'man' thing. Theres nothing wrong in having a keen interest in cars. Ive always loved cars and have been performance car enthusiast for some time. You dont like it and thats your perogative, it doesnt mean that anyone else shouldnt enjoy it. we cant all be you.

God no! (chuuu) I can't stand the (chuuu) noise that dump (chuuu) valves make. I have an (chuuu) Impreza wagon but mine (chuuu) has no mods (chuuu).

As for the Impreza Irrational (chuuu) hate brigade on here (chuuu) if you didn't drive soooo bloody (chuuu) slow and dozy, then I wouldn't be (chuuu) up yer ar*e and overtaking you (chuuu) all the time.

Why is it sad? I'm interested in cars, so are thousands of other people, if they weren't there wouldn't be shows like Fifth Gear or Top Gear on the TV, let alone magazines.

You'll probably find that is actually teenagers. I for one don't have a 'bangin' stereo or any 'bling' on my car, the exhaust is louder than some cars for a reason and it's not about making noise.

Good for you for not having the usual trappings on your car though- but WHY the modified exhaust?

Be honest does it make the stupid noise when you drive down the road?... becuase it is a nuisance mate.

Why don't you grow up and respect other people and that they may have opinions and interests other than your own?

I think I am quite grown up to be honest- I dont have to act like a teenager going on pointless 'cruises' around with large gangs of other people of the same persusasion.

Pray tell me what do you actually do on the cruises?

I'm thinking along the lines of- meet up- drive somewhere- have a drink- come back ?? Am I wrong or am I right?
Enlighten me please.

People do have other opinions and interests- very true, I just find a lot of the hobbies a bit sad and pointless ie: the obsession with 'modding cars' and 'car fanatics' in general.

If the modded exhaust is on a normally aspirated 1.2 saxo, then i completely agree with you. Whats the bloody point!!

But on a performance car, that's a different story. Large bhp gains can be had by de-catting your exhaust, or by putting a nice new shiny stainless steel system in place.

Personally, Ive never been "cruising", but i am deffo planning on going on a few track days this year. That means I can make as much noise and drive as fast as I want without bothering people like yourself.

Just a quick question ANGELUS, what do you think has been modded on this car??

Cheers for the reply :)

Again, why the need to make as much noise and drive as fast as you want?

Where do you drive as fast as you want and make as much noise- on the roads? Or if not- where else do you go?

There is no need for anyone to start driving like maniacs in high powered cars.

ALSO for the pic as well... I dont know anything to be fair about cars, as I find it pointless and boring so I'm going to hazard a guess, probably nothing- although the back end of the car if there is something modded?

OK, for all the people that contributed to this thread that would like to get together to have a good chinwag and check each others cars out, either send me a pm or leave a suggested time / place on here. I'm available most nights after 6pm and weekends and would welcome the opportunity for a meet.
For all the clowns that had nothing to do except pass comment on why we have to have noisy / large exhausts and loud stereo systems, I suggest you put down your pipe, kick off your slippers and come along, see the cars and get to know the people and what it's all about.
Once again, hope to see you all soon.

There you go, you're not grown up at all are you? No doubt I probably find your hobbies not to my taste but each to their own, I can't see the attraction in football yet it's incredibly popular but I don't think fans are sad.

Let's see, never actually been to a cruise. But what's wrong with meeting up with friends with similar interests? Maybe they should ban all sports as that's generally what people do when they go to watch a horse race or a tennis match. Come to think of it I may as well stop going to gigs as that's obviously sad, what with the meeting up with my friends to go and see a band we like.

There are these magic roads called race tracks where people with fast cars go to drive round, but it's very sad obviously. Then there are drag strips.

I agree driving stupidly fast is ridiculous on the streets, that's not what they're for, hence we have speed limits and a highway code. Let me see, been driving modded/perf cars for over 6 years and I've never had any points, never had anything so much as a parking ticket.

As for loud exhausts you need to go read about how engines work and how different sort of engines work so go search on wikipedia.

What, pray tell, are your hobbies if I dare ask?

I dont sit 'in front of a computer all day and night playing god' as you say- I just have an opinion of people.

From what you are all saying- I've got you all down as The Fast & The Furious wannabe's which I find quite sad personally that people would waste time and money trying to mod cars.
But hey- however you want to spend your cash is none of my business is it.

So what exactly is the depth of your experience of performance cars and their owners Angelus?
It seems by your uninformed rantings that you think a performace car owner is some little sh*t wearing a burberry brain shrinker, driving a Nova GSi with an exhaust that cost more than the car, up and down your road all evening.
Sorry but your opinion is based on no more than an impression gained by some little chavs that have intruded on your aural privacy one evening, oh and possibly by your watching some dodgy American film or two.
If you can't be bothered to experience first hand, what we are actually about then I suggest you get involved in a debate that you know something about.

Chrysler has just introduced a new car with an 8.5 litre V10 engine for a sticker price of $83,000. I'm sure the high schoolers are out there begging Daddy to buy them one so they can die young. If someone can find a road in America so uncrowded that you can get above 70, I'll buy one myself. Otherwise I'll stick to the Mustang.

The reason I ask is that I told the other half he could have any car he wanted as long as it's diesel, now I'm worried that he'll find an Audi A6 "super sports" diesel (or something) that will cost a fortune.

He likes fast cars.

What about a VW Golf GTi diesel?
Had one for a week courtesy of my place of work and it was absolutely bl**dy great.
Also these things can be tuned up to kick out even more power for a relatively small sum of cash.
All this and economical to boot eh?

I've got a Mondeo ST Diesel. Thats pretty quick so I'd say yes.

Those Jags with the twin turbos are like muck off a shovel too

Performance diesels are the future.

I'd be happy with that but he prefers a bigger, more luxury, car.

There are chips out there for most different makes/models of diesel cars nowadays.

Whilst we are on about performance cars, I am on the lookout for a Rover 220 (Hatchback not coupe) GSi/GTi turbo, if anyone knows of one for sale.

A meet up has been arranged for the following time and place:-

HALFORDS - RIPSPEED X CAR PARK
QUEENS ROAD,SHEFFIELD
SUNDAY 29TH OF JANUARY
11:30 AM

It's a Probe owners meet but anyone and everyone regardless of the car they drive is welcome. I drive an Impreza so I'm an odd one out to start with.
If anyone is interested and needs a lift to see what it's all about, gimme a shout cos I'm going down with probably 3 empty seats.

Performance diesels would probably include various German marks and... not much else - yet. But imho this will change soon. You can already get various v6 diesels, a v8 in an Audi and even a W10 in a VW Tourag. 4 pots in smaller cars can also be remapped towards 180bhp aswell.

Notable cars are:
*Various diesel Golfs up to 150bhp,
*Plus Other VAG cars using VW componets such as diesel Seat leons,
*Scoda Fabia VRS
*BMW 330D and now 335D offering serious performance and near 250bhp if memory serves.

Top gear tested the Fabia VRS against a mini cooper and it won. Though I wouldnt describe the cooper as fast myself - even the cooperS is a touch luke warm.

So as yet, there isnt really a truly sporty diesel car. They just run out of revs too soon on the race track. *However*, on normal roads where you dont spend all your time at 5K revs and usually change up early to save your fuel bill a diesel makes a lot more sense. They have torque at the point most drivers want it.

Downsides are the tractor noise and all the wheezing cyclists left in their wake (asmatic cyclists may not be a downside for you, though), though this is touted to change too if you believe the recent Honda adverts.

Best one to get in a lot of peoples opinion is a VW Golf GT TDi 150.
Has the strongest brakes, motor and chassis out of all the Golf diesel range and can stand remaps up to around 200bhp with no more modifications other than some better brake pads and a nice air filter.

just been buying a lancia delta HF intergarale evo 2 with the big bucket seats they the best seats ive ever sat in shame for the people in the back but who ever sits in the back. bought it after selling my Mits GTO. GTO was totally standard but boy it could move from 60-100 extremly fast probs one of the fastest on te road for this range and top end where as the delta can leave almost anything from a standing start and it feels so good around the corners you know what the car is doing un like the GTO where you just put you foot down and the power just pushed the car all over the place even after plenty of practice it still could be a surprise to what it did. just last week i took it back to the garage where i got it and said look you said you did a full service and i said look this aint no clean filter which it wasn't (i got car from delta garage walkers it was called) so they put all the new filters in and changed the oil etc and even put a super chip and re mapped it all for free so i was well happy like and now its like a mini rocket and beats anything around the round abouts and corners. everyone should drive a pumped up powered one i tried a 400 BHP yellow one but milage put me off but that was even quicker and probs one of the fastest cars on the road today. you either love or hate the looks ive always wanted one since watching the rallying and even playing in one on sega rally boy that game is so dated but the car accually handles like itt does on that game.....

Never mind, theres one on the first Monday evening of each month at the Carbrook Hall. Hope you can make it to one of those if possible.
To all of those unaware, there is a meeting of performance car owners on Sunday 29th Jan at 11:30am at Halfords car park on Queens road.
It'd be great if we could get a good turnout, so polish up the motor and get down there (even if it's not so hot on performance).

Looks like Buck has spiralled down into the "I can't beat 'em so I'll just abuse 'em" mode.
Let's just agree on one thing. You're an American and henceforth an opinionated bighead with little or no time for anyone or anything outside your country.

I knew I'd get a bite, lol :hihi:
Well you've called me a moron so I'm afriad I'm going to have to make you look even sillier than you already do, sorry....

We haven't talked cubic inches for years
That's funny, the sales guys did when I was over at the New York Motor show just last year... lol. Never mind eh.

,we put up with those puny little ccs the frogs have forced on everyone, along with your puny lirrle 1 litre boxes.
Boxes? They're called 'engines' Buck, tell me if I'm going to fast for you. :D
What makes this funnier is you are slating the french now, yet a few pages ago were bragging about what cars you'd had - and many of them were French!!
Personally speaking I wouldn't care if I drove something with a 1 litre engine - it's the power to weight ratio that matters mate, not engine size. You obviously didn't work that out from my original dig at the American way of thinking - 'bigger engine = faster car'. Never mind, we can't all be expected to grasp basic concepts. ;)

As long remember Ford and Vauxhall were famous for making as big garbage as America was. Its only 3000 miles away moron.
"As long remember Ford...", eh? What? Was that a sentence you were trying to form there?? ;)
I think I know what you're saying - but you are aware that Ford is an american company aren't you? Are you also aware that 'Vauxhall' is just teh brand General Motors (another American company) use over here in the UK, aren't you?? Of course you are, you're no moron. Bless, you're taking the micky out of yourself without knowing, again :hihi:

Anyway, I said orginially that I like some American cars, the Ford GT being one of them (when it works properly I mean).

Please can you turn this into a sentence or two??? Something that is at least interpretable anyway, lol

P.S. If you're talking about something beating my Supra, you're very sadly mistaken, lol.
Hint: to add kudos to your posts, don't say "my car beat <insert any old American bag of bolts here>", it's not hard to beat American cars, LIKE I KEEP SAYING, lol :D

Hello everyone!
My first post on here, the car thing caught my eye.
Not ALL subaru's are impreza's chaps, there was a car called the Legacy turbo before they came along, a certain Mr McRae used to rally one:D
Bit bigger, less obvious and in my opinion looks far cooler, just as quick and very rare!
Ive got one:hihi: and people just don't know what they are . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . till its past them:thumbsup:

It's rallying succesor was the Impreza and they just built on the success of the Legacy with this car.

Hi guys. This isn't meant as a thread jack but thoguht you might be the right people to ask.

I'm looking for a low mileage subaru WRX (2.0 twin turbo) engine, with rad&fan, sensors and as much of the wiring loom as possible. any ideas of any breakers in or around the sheffield area?

also looking for a seperate subaru 2.2i (ej22?) rad and fan :)

Maybe see you at a cruise soon.

fanx :)

Twin turbo??
All factory produced 2.0 scoobies are single turbo.
Better off going for an STi engine if possible as it has lighter and stronger components, a better turbo, plus a higher BHP and torque output than the WRX lump.
Anyway, if you try the following link this guy dismantles and sells subaru parts so a full engine might be available.

Good luck and let me know how the project goes.
