Just wondering, that's all.

I am not trying in any way to imply that the winners are preselected ... that is impossible.

It seems that roll-overs often appear to occur just prior to a Bank Holiday weekend or some such notable period. I may be wrong.

Also I wonder why the Lottery Tills close at 7.30pm on the day, yet the Draw doesn't take place until 8.00pm at the earliest.

After all, the Computer System must be a fantastic piece of kit.

Could the system be subject to our good old friend "Marketing" do you think?

Or maybe I am just paranoid and don't know it.

No mate the numbers are entirely drawn at random, not even the studio staff knows what the numbers will be prior to the draw.

I just wish I could win a large sum of money just once, even if it's only 500 quid and not the Millions, like the £15 Mill that's up for grabs tonight in the super draw.

I encourage a healthy does of paranoia. However, I think they probably keep some spare cash to spice up the prize fund on holiday weekends.

Well, actually, last time I looked it occurred to me that there are 2 things spinning to stir the balls up, each with 3 arms, so 6 arms in total. There are also 6 main balls drawn.

Magnets anyone? If that fake-tan-orange American magician bloke can make the statue of Liberty disappear then hooking the right 6 balls by magnet & dropping them off in sequence can't exactly be rocket science?

But surely the studio staff have no reason to know...they are not the ones running the Lottery.

I am not sure how you can equivocably state they are entirely drawn at random.

Im farely sure it can be fixed, and with some ease too. As to wether it is fixed or not is a different matter. Im not sure to be honest.

I have thought for a long time re magnetic properties of say, a Ball with strong magnetic pole on the one hand and a strong opposing magnetic pole on the jaws of the hole on the other.

Material Science has come a long, long way since I was at school.

Sure, it could be fixed - easily.

Try and find out who ensures the integrity of the physical system (balls, machines). I did (even called the national lottery) and was unable to find out. It seems that OFLOT (or whatever they call themselves now) have oversight responsibility for the integrity of the system that they delegate to the National Weights and Measures Lab and some 'independent auditors'.

Whether it all adds up to a secure system or not, I cannot tell.

Then again, a lottery is "a tax on fools".
