BURLY Q PRESENTS GRIN AND BARE IT!

On 10th September Burly Q is honoured to bring you an evening of burlesque ripe with wit, parody, caricature and travesty. In a celebration of the origins of the art form, we have gathered together the cream of the UK’s burlesque, cabaret and circus scene who will tantalise, delight and astound you with burlesques of everything from fairytale princesses and iconic cartoon characters, to national heroines and jazz icons. If you ...like your burlesque with sex, sass, skill and a sprinkling of silliness, this is the event for you!

Burly Q is thrilled to welcome back a performer close to its heart - mistress of make- believe, RED SARAH.

Literally running away with the circus at an early age, Red Sarah has established herself as one of the most popular and sought after performers on the UK scene. Listed as one of Bizarre Magazines 10 hottest burlesque acts, this red haired siren is a skilled character performer, stilt walker, living sculpture and self taught fire eater. With her special brand of cartoon comedy striptease and vaudevillian circus acts, Sarah won the much coveted title of "best female Burlesque performer" and has since headlined at every club across the nation.

After wowing the Burly Q crowd last year with her mesmerising performances and phenomenal circus skills, we’re delighted to bring back MAMZELLE DOTTIE. Quirky, adorable and a little mysterious, brace yourself for slick and sophisticated contact juggling, and breath taking fire tricks from France’s most impish of exports.

The whirlwind that is AUDACITY CHUTZPAH has performed her own unique blend of burlesque and clowning on stages across London, around the UK and in Spain and Italy. Audacity embodies the true meaning of burlesque. Whether it be telling the complete history of Women's Liberation in the Twentieth Century in 6 minutes or recounting the agonising tale of Carol Vorderman's departure from Countdown, her acts will gleefully repeat on you for days like your mum's Sunday roast. Memorable, hilarious, cheeky and oozing with wit and pathos.
Hailing from Belgium, LAURIE HAGEN moved to London at 16 to study Musical Theatre at Arts Educational. Upon graduating she performed in various musicals including the original West End production of Disney's Beauty and The Beast, in which she appeared as a plate and a napkin! Stepping away from dancing cutlery Laurie completed a post-grad in acting, going on to perform as part of Polly Rae’s Hurly Burly Girls Review. Laurie is now a very special star on the UK burlesque scene. An exceptionally gifted character actress and comedienne, no subject is too sacred to burlesque, as Laurie takes on everything from the classic fan dance to a certain national heroine...

Spoonertastically named chanteuse LEGGY PEE is a darling of the Scottish cabaret scene, charming UK audiences with her sophistication, elegance and poise. Leggy recently collaborated with artist Bruno Gallagher on a project where he recreated her look and style rendered in coloured paper and chocolate wrappers (her favourite artistic medium.) Bringing to Sheffield for the first time her tribute to 1950’s diminunative blonde jazz legend, this is one act with a few surprises up her sleeve…

We'll be welcoming back the compere with more faces than a pocketful of coins, Ms Penny Dreadful, and Sheffield's favourite flame haired chanteuse, Ginger Hayworth. Add in an array of vintage inspired stalls, DJs Cherryred and Den Iniquity playing all vinyl 30's/ 40's dance bands, doo wop and crooners, with dancing to rock n roll, rockabilly and 50's R and B to round off the evening.

Woody Allen once said that sex is the most fun you can have without laughing. Here at Burly Q we like to combine the two ;)

Burlesque?

Ok, I am going to ask something here, is it the case that this is stripping? and in turn could attract voyeurs wanting to look at flesh.

Again, I am no expert here and I have never been to any of these events/or a strip club in my life, however the at a local well known stripping bar there is far more undressing and you can pay for a private dance if you go in after 11pm.

I am in fact an artist and so as you can imagine painting a nude person is different to painting a bunch of flowers, the human body as an art form. From the point of view of art is there nudity in these shows? I ask this for artistic purposes, and not because I am a pervert.

If there is nudity, can I have a seat on the front row? as an artist I am constantly looking for inspiration

Thankyou for clarifying all of this.

Having seen the photos on your facebook page, and given the fact I spent extensive time this afternoon investigating Burlesque, I looked at numerous internet downloads and I feel this is not for me.

I have not purchased any tickets for the front row, and I don't intend to
