View Full Version : The Manor is a huge area ... does it vary?

Anyone who reads this forum regularly will know Im getting a bit desperate for a larger home. Many housing associations have homes on the Manor, besides council housing. I understand in recent years there has been demolitions, improvements, new build etc... So if one did go and live on the Manor, is any one part better than others? Which are the better parts for families? Which areas are the roughest? Which parts are worst for burglary and car crime?

Hi,

I live in Manor and it has such a bad reputation... which personally i dont think is earned anymore. I cant speak for the other parts but I live in Manor Park centre, which is lovely.
It seems to be mainly elderly people or people with families.

We were welcomed into the community there and every year the only people we have are Carol singers or friends and neighbours!

So in my view Manor Park centre is lovely. I also have a car which is parked in front of my house and have had no problems with it to date.

Hope this helps some and also helps get it a much better reputation... the one it now deserves!

Thank you Vicky. As I suspected, its not as bad as its made out. Are the houses around you council or housing association? My partner spent part of his childhood on the Arbourthorne and went to St Teresas on the Manor, so it probably wouldnt bother him, its just that I have no experience of it and can only go on other peoples perceptions.

I would be grateful for any other remarks about other parts of the manor.

HI again,

To be honest i dont know whether the houses are council or association. I know mine is privately rented.... to be honest it was extremely cheap because of the bad rep.

Like I said though.... I honestly cant say about the other areas of Manor.... just where I live. It looks rough but its nice. Other areas may be different though.

I hope you find somewhere nice too!

You live on the Parklands development with Pauly don't you? Sounds as though the truth is coming out about the problems there. Are you planning on moving?

I live on the Manor, in a housing association flat, on the Vikinglea part.

Apart from the noise from the motorbikes you get going up and down the road its not too bad, tho the only trouble ive had living here is that ive gone through a few wheelie bins, they keep getting nicked!!!

The old part where all the demolition is going off is bad my blokes dad lived on there and they set fire to his house when he was half way through moving out. I have been told that the new part is real nice has some trouble but so do all areas at some time or other

I love it when people say things like this, it makes me chuckle. It "has some trouble" in that cars get set alight, stones thrown through windows, houses subjected to arson attacks, etc etc. Do you really believe that ALL areas suffer this?
