Hello
I was talking to my mate last night and he told me about a big secondhand guitar shop in Doncaster but I can't remember it's name! Does anybody know the one I mean? Or does anyone know of a place in Sheffield that sells them?? Thank you.
Academy of Sound (now Sound Control) on city road used to have 2nd hand guitars... thats where I got my last guitar from, a nice Ibanez :)
there's also a pawn brokers on your way to the moor that has a lot of instruments in its shop window, some nice ones too a lot of the time :)
what guitar are you after? you have to be careful when buying 2nd hand instruments, there are various things that need checking... wiring, checking for any cracks, specifically at neck joints and headstock, whether the neck will require re-fretting, warping of the neck..
Thanks for that. I would like to get an acoustic guitar, about £300. I went to Sound Control yesterday and saw some nice ones and had a good long chat with one of the lads in there, very helpful but my mate has got me thinking because he said I could get a lot more for my money if I got a secondhand one. What do you think?
you can get a nicer guitar 2nd hand, but as I mentioned, you've just got to make sure that it's 2nd hand because the previous owner wanted to get something nicer and not just trade it in cus it needed work doing to it...
there are some guides out there for what to look for, acoustics aren't an area I know much about, I'm more of an electric player...
for an acoustic I'd personally be looking for any big dents or even holes in the body that would affect its resonance, the varnish for cracks or signs of previous exposure to heat, the neck joint especially as its where structure damage is most important, the headstock joint, frets
take someone with you who knows what to look for, because you can have damaged guitars that play great if they're been fixed/restored well... but most likely your only going to see major problems if your looking at anything vintage, if its not old and expensive try to stay clear of anything that looks damaged as its not worth the risk

I have some very nice acoustic guitars for sale around this price. I listed them on here some time ago. They were all bought for use at the old rock bar, some were only used two or three times and are as new. With the pub closing, they're just gathering dust in my attic.
PM me if you are at all interested. They are listed on the forum somewhere with prices.
I've got electric and acoustic guitars.

Classic Rock, I'd like to know what acoustic guitars you've got for sale - a search for "guitar" in the for sale section didn't return any of your posts. Could you drop me a line with some info?
Thanks :)
