Just wondered peoples opinions on which is better?

Not tried SKY but have Telewest & have no probs at all.

Read a lot of negative threads about Sky recently and was apalled Christmas 2004 when they took Spongebob off Telewest (when it was fairly new) over Christmas 2004 so parents of kids were forced to subscribe to a Sky pack age if they wanted to see it!:mad: :rant:

I moved from Sky to Telewest a few months ago and now regretting it. Telewest keeps jumping and the box freezes so you have to reset and get off your chair! The cost is very similar per month if you have Sky Sports. I only moved to cable 'cos I moved house and left my dish behind!

gutted!Im moving into a telewest area because I thought it was a lot cheaper and was told it was better than Sky!Not the only reason why im moving but still!

It's not all bad news though as i've got the phone and broadband packages from Telewest too and they are cheap and good!

Sky anyday.... more choice and if you are with BT for your phone you can get a better deal. I used to work for Telewest and the customer service sucks.... each department does not communicate with the other. Merely pay lip service.

Thats interesting to know Jake....i have a few friends who work for Telewest, who recommended them to me so thats why i put the question out to the crowd....

I can't fault the telephone and broadband service but the digital tv is nothing to write home about.
As another poster has already written, the picture does freeze occasionally for a nano second and it does sometimes need resetting but you can't use all the interactive features using the red button, ie; sky news. Only a few channels let you use the interactive button ie; BBC and I can't think of any others :confused:

I'm on sky and the picture still freezes sometimes. Don't have any choice in the land of crystal peaks the cables don't reach.
Always though telewest looked cheaper though.

I worked in Liverpool.... but the customer service is central.... I even put my Mum on it and She wasn't happy..... but like most things cos I got it free I took it and still wasn't happy.... that is not to say you may ever have a problem with them. For every ship that sets sail only a handful ever fail to return as they say.

Oh! and I worked on the planning side. :D

Thought that was more to do with Telewest refusing to pay the money that Nick wanted for them to air their station.

Was with Telewest in the past...never again. When the switch to digital took place the box kept freezing, changing between channels took too long (so no channel hopping for me). I just wasn't impressed.

A switch to Sky saw a better reception, great channel choices, and fantastic value.

The problems with Telewest - well, 6 months ago my parents were still having the same problems with their digital reception (over 3 years since the introduction of the service - you think it would be working properly by now), so they too have now switched to Sky.

Telewest customer and have no complaints, mind you I have nothing to compare it with.

Will say though (and anyone who works for Telewest take this on board) rang them up last week and they were efficient, helpful and dead nice so thank you!

Have telewest for internet TV and phone, had two replacement Pace receiver boxes replaced over a period of 5 years, yeah the box does occasionally freeze up, but this mostly occurs after telewest have carried out updates to the system.

As for customer support I've had no problems when phoning up, engineers attended when they were supposed to and at NO COST unlike £65 for Sky.

I have also used Sky and yes I found it to be excellent for choice of channels and much quicker at flicking through the channels, but from a cost point of view I shall stick to telewest.

Also Sky is not free from its faults as to other posters have commented on other threads:-

Quite.... that is why I used the analogy.... for every ship sailing.... only the ones that don't return are reported.... you can only try something yourself.

I had sky tv and found it ok to use i had no problems.But for money as in tv phone and internet i went with telewest to save money as it was cheaper then sky-bt-aol i use to have.

I admit since haveing my telewest on i have had lots of problems with wires been knocked out at the main box and stop me from ringing out on my phone or lost of channels and i had to wait over a week just to get someone out to fix the problem yet with sky when i got any problems it got sorted out a lot faster.

We have NTL and I think its good :thumbsup:

We've got telewest broadband, phone and tv, cant really complain.......never had any problems with the broadband but the tele does freeze, especially the new teleport service, but it is new so hopefuly it will improve

I work for Telewest, but im honest, and I would say that Sky TV is miles better than Telewest Cable. But Telewest Broadband is decent. The phoneline is average. A phoneline is a phoneline really. Prices are fairly cheapish too.

Like spyro I work for em, but I have sky plus @ home and I wouldn't swap it for telewest tv @ all.

However the phone line and the broadband are spot on :D

Aaaah yes, you are right, although with the introduction of you, the average good looks of the team have come down quite a bit :rolleyes:

introduction? Iv been there 11 months mate was just a full timer till October.

And I don't think im in your team mate, and before I joined I don't think the average good looking rating could have gone any lower ;)

Ive heard that with the NTL merger they are getting rid of the Uglies and sticking with the talent.....off you pop then Tommy

We've just gone back to Telewest from Sky and are pleased with the service. Sky is expensive (£21.50 pm compared to £15.00pm). We had no end of problems with Sky. We had 4 boxes in a year and it was still freezing and pixelating constantly. Their customer service is apalling too.

No problems what-so-ever with TW. Have TV, Broadband and phone and am more than satisfied. :clap:
