Picture the scene:

You have a sky+ box and service you pay good money through the nose for each month.

Over xmas your sky box has regular errors and the service is nothing short of appauling.

You ring the sky helpdesk and they tell you that it will cost you £65 to send an engineer out to sort out the problems and it may/may not work.

NOW.. I have serious issues with this kind of lying cheating crap that Sky are doing at the moment, and I'm guessing have been doing for a long time.

Its a godsend that I know how to work the internet and I know where to look in case Sky problems appear so I've fixed the problems myself.

If anyone has a problem with their boxes and calls sky and is told the same thing by them- tell them you want to cancel your sky subscription and want to speak to the cancellations dept.
When you get through- tell them you are not happy with the £65 callout fee and want to cancel sky- they will go away for a few mins and come back on the phone to you cancelling the £65 fee for you- OH HOW KIND YOU ARE SKY!

Please pass on this info to anyone who has sky as people should know the underhand tactics Sky employ to rake in extra cash that people really dont need to pay.

I think it is disgusting that OAP's and people with limited amount of knowledge in technical stuff like this in particular will fall for this con if I can call it that.

:thumbsup: we have sky plus its brill, but hes right, we had problems just before xmas, we also were told £65, i told em to cancel we would move over to cable, we got a new box for free and 3months subs at half price.

We ditched sky about 8 months ago for cable. Must say its the best thing I ever did, it's cheaper and the customer sevice is better.
Cable have just lauched teleport, dosent need a new box and looks like when its running to full potential could rival sky+..
I hate sky they are robbers, angelus your right ;)

In all fairness, I would say that there is not much between them, I used to work for a large Cable co up until recently in the complaints dept, and some of the underhand tactics they got up to would give sky a good name.

It would seem that when things are good, it's very good but when things are bad both company's are as horrid as each other.

Much depends on the person you get on the other end of the phone, if they are a jobsworth you might as well talk to the cat!
