Can someone tell me how I can track down an old college friend. It's nearly someone I knew 15 years ago, so it has been some time. Unfortunately, the Council won't assist due to legal and data protection reasons. I do know that this person is still in Sheffield.
Any leads would be useful.

Friends reunited perhaps? Or maybe you could contact someone who knew them while you were at college with them?
You could also try searching msn directory for first name age range and location as most ppl who use internet are likely to be on msn at some point, allbeit they may not have full info on profile so some looking through may be needed but owts worth a try.
Also I think there is somewhere you can go to view electoral role information.
I found my cousins by posting a 'trying to find...' on friends re-united webiste and within a few days someone had kindly replied with address info as they had electoral role on disc. You have to sign up to be able to contact people etc and thinks its £7.50 but its good way of finding ppl even if they arent registered themselves as it is quite likely someone else will still be in contact with them.

Tried Friends Reunited- no luck there. All the other college friends have moved away. The college don't give out personal details - data protection again etc
I have tried the examination board, data proctection problem here again.
Whats there name and where did they live- there are lots of people on here!! :D

That's the problem I'd rather not put the name on this forum.

I've just had someone from the forum find out the information and it looks good. Thanks everyone for your help and especially to the person who sent me a PM you know who you are.
