Hello well really disappointed with not even receiving a reply from local pet shops, large and small and main department stores in sheffield. We all know times are hard and i appreciate that but sometimes, we need to look at other charities which do not get publicised on the devastating effect and life change such as dialysis causes.
Thank you to the patients for donating wonderful gifts but would have been nice to have had more support from shops as it is always the same charities which get supported. Every charity is important and should all be given a chance.

I've known people fund walking holidays on the back of claiming they are doing it for charity, not all charities are equal.

I thought i would say my piece here, my problem hasnt being donated prizes, ive done really well and those who donated will be justly rewarded and i thank them all very very very much indeed!
My problem has been with shop owners etc who pull such a face of cant be bothered , when ive asked if they can put up a flyer in their window or somewhere , where it will be seen in hope of getting more tickets sold, etc etc .
They eventually reluctantly take the flyer from me , quote me a price for putting it on show, which i usually say with a cheery smile, well i am trying to raise money not spend it!:) Then they say oh ill see what i can do... i go past a few days later and if its there, ill go and buy something, if it isnt i go in and politely ask them if the flyer is going to be put up, because if not, if they dont mind can i have it back as it cost me money to get it printed and id like it to go somewhere , it can be put up to be seen. On the odd occasion ive had oh err wheres it gone?, it was here, so & so mustve moved it...its never seen again....Then ive had, oh it was here ill find it and put it up in the window for you. result!!!
The thing is , why is it such a task for them to just be kind enough to put the flyer up? its for charity and ive got proof and ive offfered them the proof.
There are some shop owners who go out of their way to place it in a really good place but others well theyre hard work! lol what is the problem after all it is for charity!

Good Luck with your charity work and i think it is good when every one can offer help within a community. just so surprised that all the local shops where we shop and live and in city centre cant be bothered. The one and only one who have been so helpful and kind and donated are Pets at Home. Your a Star. No trouble at all they deserve good business as they support chariites in their shops etc.

Our craft group knit for the local baby units. About six months after we started I contacted two department stores in Sheffield asking for donations of wool to help us out. We didn't ask for much, just the odd ball that had been damaged so they couldn't sell it anyway. They didn't even bother replying.

I agree - unfortunately if it doesn't hit the media not a lot of people are bothered. I've always managed to find some charitable donations even when it was fund raising for schools.
The key was to be clearer and more concise in your efforts, the area your working in and the area your trying to help.

Often smaller communities don't always support larger charities and even some shops need more "reward" than feeling warm and cosy for displaying a poster.

(I approached Argos for a handful or so of the small pencils they use - to use for ticking boxes at the dog show. They never replied either, i even went in person and got nowhere, i eventually bought some from Morrisons on my company expenses.)

HELLO

Thank you for your replies, obviously it seems charity does not start at home. We seem to be able to help other countries so easy but not the ones here and now. Very sad.

Oh well hopefully we shall have a fantastic day out at Woof-seats Dog show on sat 9th july 2.30 and make and raise what we can with what we got.

Thank you
