From where I'm standing, there appears to be a giant daffodil on the University Art's Tower.

Am I right?

Maybe wrong but could it be anything to do with March being Marie Curie Cancer Charity daffodil appeal. Or perhaps somebody got the date of St Davids day wrong.

Could be, Mo. I'm sure that someone will enlighten us.

Come on: what's it for?

Definitely a daffodil - it's their time of year, as it were. Thety have a banner underneath that says who sponsors it but it is missing a few windows. Maybe those offices were locked....

I saw this earlier on. I wonder how they did it? Me and a mate had a chuckle imagining someone standing on the road opposite on a mobile, instructing people in the building where to position each piece of paper.

Sorry to be sensible, as I know you are only making a joke. But they probably have a plan of the window layout on paper, then you can draw the daffodil on top, and mark out which section needs to go where :)

What they should do is get someone to write a program which controls the lights in each office and play a massive game of tetris

There's a legend that some students from MIT did something very similar to that once. Don't think it was a playable game, but instead a scrolling text over the windows in the office...

Dunno if it's true or not, but something I remember reading once...

Think they'll do a big easter egg or bunny for the upcoming holiday or will it just be a one-off?

The tetris idea is wicked...i've been p**sing myself for the past 5 minutes...

No really its the Uni Architecture department with the sponsors written at the bottom doing it for "CHARITY"

All that effort you thought they might have kept it up for longer.

what about a big telly with stream of mucky movies??? anyone?

These guys have done 'pong' on an office building you can play via mobile phone. Tetris has been done somewhere too.

But the arts tower would be ideal for such an effort :-)

You could probably have a stab at motion video on it with a superbright LED array on the building.

I'd love to put that project together if some wealthy corporate backer would like to step forward :-).

I'm sure you could do a safe, efficient system for the arts tower for under £15K. Especially with input from the Uni's many excellent boffins. A mere snip for a world record contender :-)
