you can get a massive frame by eating a lot of do-nuts :D
Plain Talker 05-01-2006, 11:48 Try the framing shop at the bottom of the moor next to the "big-and-tall man's shop"
Failing that, there's another framing shop off the moor, on that little road between the poundland shop, and the lloyds tsb bank.

scottcross 05-01-2006, 11:51 Wilkinsons on Haymarket have those big clip frames, they're not glass at that size but plastic so quite light. Do not know the exact sizes but one I bought fitted a large poster in.

Have you tried IKEA ?
SallyLaLaLa 05-01-2006, 11:58 There's a framing shop in Meadowhall called Bel Air, they do lots of 'ready made' frames which you can buy to put your own stuff into, they come in lots of sizes including very big ones as the company makes them themselves in their workshop nearby. They also do bespoke frames were you can pick your own mountboard, frame moulding etc and usually can do things like that next day.
sophiec1979 05-01-2006, 12:34 hobbycraft at the meadowhall retail park- they do big clip frames and mounts.
good luck,

Sarah1982 05-01-2006, 13:18 Thanks for the replies, ill get hunting!! Think places like Wilkos and even most of the photo type shops just really have
90x60 as the largest, but ill find something hopfully!!
Lindseyw 05-01-2006, 13:28 what is it in mm ?
Sarah1982 05-01-2006, 14:15 it'll be 1400mm by 1000mm
Most off the shelf frames are standard sizes and don't go over a certain dimension.
Even a lot of framers don't make frames over a certain size.
However, there is a very good framer on Sharrowvale Rd who makes large bespoke frames.
It's not the shop at the top end (next to the off licence) - but the place next to the newsagents opposite the post office. Sorry - can't remember his name.
I've used him several times & can recommend him.
Give these a go... They will sort you out with a made to measure frame in any style and thre pretty cheap :-

cgksheff 05-01-2006, 16:13 If things get a bit pricey, I often look at mirrors and find that I can get a very good frame a lot cheaper that way!
manzmanz 05-01-2006, 16:54 Hi - You could try Terry at The Framework Gallery - its at the bottom of the moor (opposite Thorntons) - check out www.theframeworkgallery.co.uk - as far as I know he makes frames so should be able to help you out and even frame it for you - hope this helps

Classic Rock 05-01-2006, 17:00 I bought one in Woolworths once. That was a few years ago though.
either petes pictures in ecclesfield or if you go up the side of banners building in attercliffe there is a small picture/mirror shop there we bought a mirror made to measure 4ft by 2ft including 2inch frame for £40 SO I FRAME SHOULD BE CHEAP ENOUGH THERE

UnkleBob 05-01-2006, 20:42 you dont have to frame it, you can have it mounted on card, foamboard, MDF, and have it laminated, it looks more modern, too. Try Peak imaging in sheffield. google em!

Aww sorry!! Thanks to you too!! x
I dont think that standard clip frames (like the ones you might find in Ikea, for example) are made to that size. Your requirements sound larger than the standard 'movie poster' size, so you might find it a bit difficult finding anything that's relatively inexpensive. You might need to go custom-made.
