Does anyone else agree that these magazines are absolute rubbish! They consist of 95% adverts, 4% "promotional articles" (ie-adverts written by the journalists on behalf of and in collaboration with the business in question) and 1% annually repeated articles by third rate journalists.
The "gnome" pages are the best if only to keep track of how Julia Gash (who seems to have a contact with them and the Sheffield Telegraph / Star letters page) is looking on a monthly basis.
Its a good job its free... I much prefer Grapevine which has a little personality to it.
Agree with you 100%

I got a new one through my door - "northern life", or something like that. Anyway, it was about the thickness of all the other magazines put together and was about 99% adverts.
I don't remember asking to receive it, not do I want it. Bah!

I think Active8 is marginally better than the rest - at least some of the articles are worth reading, unlike Grapevine which goes straight in the blue bin...

Apparently, Dronfield Eye has had numerous distribution problems (same distributor as the others) - so don't expect it to be around for much longer! All those posh kids in Dronfield applying for pay rises already!

From a design point of view, active8 is dreadful, but I do agree that the articles are sometimes quite interesting - especially the history of Woodseat.
Grapevine does pad my blue bin out quite nicely!
