sufc_tom 04-01-2006, 22:22 preggers you will be adding more to that album :P
I would STRONGLY recommend you see a medic.
I don't know why you can't get to see a doctor but it does sound like you should.
Seriously, get it looked at. Now.
Good luck.
Joe

ring your doctor, even now, they will give you the emergency number and someone will phone you back like a nurse or something,(they dont like coming out you know, they always do this)..if they think that you are bad a doctor will speak to you, then theres always the 24 hr walk in at the hallamshire
if you dont want to ring the doc ring NHS direct
ps, your pics= cutie babies!! !!!!!by the way :)

Go to A & E then.
Seriously, exams and interviews will wait - your health won't.
If you do have something in there that's nasty, you don't want to give it more houseroom than you already have done.
Joe
The NHS Direct service is top notch. They quizz you about your symptoms over the phone and advise you whether you need a doctor or not.
To be honest, I would be very suprised if they didn't tell you to go straight to Aand E or a doctor with those symptoms.
Crayfish 04-01-2006, 22:43 If it's stopping you standing, it's not good. I'd recommend getting it looked at. Otherwise... is the NHS helpline still going? They might be able to advise you but would probably tell you to seek help. There are a number of things it could be but due to the severity of the pain you're experiencing, and the fact it hasn't gone away in the last few weeks, it's probably nothing good.
Does the pain localise anywhere? i.e. back, sides, front, central / distal, one side or the other, deep or surface? Does it hurt to poke? Are some areas more sensitive than others?

i phoned up nhs healthline once.. beacause i was honest about my symptoms they said 'it doesnt sound like much, prob a cold' after a horrible night i demanded to see a doctor and id got tonsilitis... (damn that really hurt!!)
basically being nice gets you nothing, you have to be a dick and push around and demand to see people and lie if need be.
SatanInHeels 04-01-2006, 22:51 thanks for advice every1..
the pain has mostly been only quite low down on the right side of my tummy.. in the same spot every time..
now is very bad there and also the bottom of my back aches.. when i stand up it just kinda feels like a lot of pressure downwards :S

You asked us, and collectively we're telling you.

This is not sounding good. Get a doctor to examine you.

See your GP as soon as possible. Seriously. You're approaching A&E territory if you're struggling to stand.
No one on here will even attempt to tell you what something like that might or might not be.
If it gets worse tonight, at least phone NHS Direct or your GP's out of hours service. The doctor will take you through the symptoms step by step and act accordingly.
Depending on what it is, it could get worse very quickly. Get it looked at straight away. Better to be safe than sorry.

I agree - last year I had 11-day flu (yup, it had a name) but all I knew was that every night my temperature notched up a degree....101..102..103..104...105. Yup, honestly. But each time the doctor arrived (ok, twice) it had dropped and it looked like I was exaggerating. Eventually it passed, but if it had been serious, then by my being too honest ("sometimes it's high, then it drops again") I'd have been history. My sis took me to the NHS walk in, and I was dripping sweat onto the carpet (honestly again!), and the best they could wonder was whether it was hormonal. Doh!
Like I say, it turned out to be nothing. Doubtless if it had been more serious, it'd have been detected. But at the time it was scary.
Oh but, to go back to the OP, GET YOURSELF SEEN GIRL!!! Stop messing around on here, if it's so bad. :suspect:
As appendiceal inflammation increases, it extends through the appendix to its outer covering and then to the lining of the abdomen, a thin membrane called the peritoneum. Once the peritoneum becomes inflamed, the pain changes and then can be localized clearly to one small area. Generally, this area is between the front of the right hip bone and the belly button. The exact point is named after Dr. Charles McBurney--McBurney's point. If the appendix ruptures and infection spreads throughout the abdomen, the pain becomes diffuse again as the entire lining of the abdomen becomes inflamed.
If left untreated, appendicitis is often fatal. Go to hospital.
flashbang 04-01-2006, 23:00 It sound like IBS( irratable bowel syndrome)
I sometimes suffer with the same symptoms, it felt like I was having labour pains, but best get it checked out.

At the risk of sounding alarmist, please do something about this now. As JoeP says, if it's something minor then all well and good, but please get it checked out.
SatanInHeels 04-01-2006, 23:04 I cant go anywhere at the moment as i have no transport or babysitter but am going to go to bed and see how i feel tomorrow.. if i cant sleep or it gets any worse i will get help. thankyou all for your advice, even if it isnt the "it will be fine" that i would rather have heard! X
evildrneil 05-01-2006, 08:38 Bottom right hand side could be appendicitus (especially if you have a fever, nausea etc.) but get yourself to the walk in centre at the Hallamshire before we have to come out there in ballaclavas and a white van to adbuct you and take you there against your will!!!
fruit&nut 05-01-2006, 08:45 Bottom right hand side could be appendicitus
thats what i would say,
SatanInHeels, have you seen your gp yet or sought medical advice?
ill come and watch your kids,

Are you feeling better this morning? If the pain becomes as bad again, you really need to get it checked out asap.
SatanInHeels 05-01-2006, 14:20 Havent been to see anyone today as i feel quite a lot better, is more of a dull ache in ma tummy at the moment and i dont think ma back hurtin is anything to worry about really.. probably just too much lifting of small children! am gonna wait and see if it gets bad again though before going to docs or anything as i would feel a rite idiot going to see her after it has gone away, sorta wasting her time im sure! X
C'mon H ..... phone your GP & they might do a home visit. If not I'll come round & take you myself ...... :)
kookymonster 05-01-2006, 14:27 I would still get it checked out. I had similar symptoms when I had an ovarian cyst a few years ago. Luckily it was monitored and went away by itself but they can burst and be dangerous.
I didnt get constant pain either, it came and went. Go to the docs asap, please.
SatanInHeels 05-01-2006, 14:28 They are closed today or i really would have... could have gone straight there after my driving lesson (which was terrible btw.. someone bumped into the back of me!! :()
Not having a good time r u???
Ginger_Kitty 05-01-2006, 14:37 This might sound a daft question.. do you have any pains in your legs/knees at the same time?
It does sound to me less like the appendix and more like a gynae problem (because of the backache too) eitherway its worth getting it looked at asap (ring the docs and ask for emergency appt if it gets bad again) as it might get more and more complicated and you are FAR too young for that to happen.
If the docs come up with nothing sensible (IBS is a common misdiagnosis for many things) demand a referral so hospital. They won't jsut offer, you have to ask for it nowadays!!!
Take care of yourself,
Em
SatanInHeels 05-01-2006, 14:41 no im not pressy.. very bad week so far!
No dont have any pains in my legs em.
I will ring the doctors tomorrow and try and get in sometime next week.. just to be sure i guess. have been meaning to go for a while now but was a little concerend about what it might be (see what sufc_tom said)
Cant u nip to the docs next to the library at Manor Top ..... dont think they close Thurs????? .... or phone em..
Ginger_Kitty 05-01-2006, 14:45 No dont have any pains in my legs em.
ah ok, i am just aware that ovary pains are often felt in the knees at the same time (due to the position of the nerve running over the ovary to your legs) its a giveaway for ovary probs ;)
good luck with getting it all sorted!
*hugs*
SatanInHeels 05-01-2006, 14:48 OMG how do u know where i am?! lol.
yeah it does close thursday, i used to be registered there until last year.. unless they have changed their opening hours recently X
kookymonster 05-01-2006, 14:48 Well I didnt get any pains in my legs either, so I dont think it is a typical symptom tbh.
Ginger_Kitty 05-01-2006, 14:54 It is fairly common, but not everyone gets it, i've spoken to a lot of people with ovary probs on another site and many feel it in their knees...
...or the docs at Townend ???? or NHS Direct 0845 46 47
Shaun
joeyannie 05-01-2006, 14:55 I had similar pains when I slipped a disk in my lower back...according to my doctor the pain often mainfests around your tummy as well as in your back, due to muscle overuse to compensate for the disc or something (cant remember as it was a few years ago).
At the time I was worried about appendix/gynae problems so it was a relief to have a definite diagnosis (along with orders to stop carting heavy drums about the place).
hope you manage to get an appointment and sort it out...always better to know what it is than hope it goes away on its own!
SatanInHeels 05-01-2006, 15:09 anyone any suggestions of ways to make it feel better if it does come back.. (bath etc..)? X
Ginger_Kitty 05-01-2006, 15:15 hot bath, hot water bottle back and front, ibuprofen & paracetamol/cocodamol if you can take them.
Try a gentle back massage if you have a willing masseur, to relax you (can make loads of difference) and distract you... (you can be lying down, sat up or even curled up in a very small ball!!!)
Other than that i believe in rolling around on the bed screaming works... ;)
Internetowl 05-01-2006, 15:21 without wishing to worry you unduly, it could be a kidney issue (going on your first posting) - see your gP - don't put it off and if it is try to stay off the Ibuprofen (will aggravate your kidneys so make the pain worse potentially).
hopefully it'll be something as simple as trapped wind
for pain relief in the meantime- I use the shower (as hot as you can bear it) for my kidney problems - works a treat.
Crayfish 05-01-2006, 15:42 A kidney is possible, though pain would tend to be more to the back side with those. Appendicitis is usually a bit faster moving than a month as far as I'm aware. (Could be wrong).
My instinct would be that it could be either an intestinal, ovarian or muscular / back problem. Haven't really got enough information to say whether or not it's likely to be serious. Would tend to play it safe myself, if it does turn out to be nasty it's always better to get these things seen to ASAP. Oh, and most painkillers are evil in my opinion but ibuprofen particularly.

they might be, but severe pain is worse!
you may notice the words 'if you can take them' in my earlier post, referring to the fact that I'm sure SIH will be aware if she can take certain painkillers without adverse reactions.
Ibuprofen may be 'evil' in your book, but they are anti-inflammatories and DO work very well in the right situations....
I'd much rather take them (and voltarol and cocodamol and dihydracodeine if needs be!) than live in pain that leaves me screaming the house down!!!
Katsz1179 05-01-2006, 18:21 I went to the doctors a few weeks ago with similar symptoms, had a few tests done. Which were clear, but the doctor thinks that it may be ovarian cysts. So i have to have a scan in 2 weeks. I have pain most days and sometimes even ibuprofen doesn't seem to work.
I don't know if you find this too but even lying down doesn't seem to help. Somteimes standing up or sitting upright seems to help a little.
Get to the Doc asap!
I had very similar syptoms to yours just before xmas, although my pain was so bad I ended up going to hospital. Turned out to be a kidney stone blocking the pipe from my kidney to my bladder. Had to stay overnight in hospital, and Im going next week to have it broken up with ultrasound. But I did the same as you, had a bit of a pain, ignored it and it went away, then it came back with a vengence and put me in hospital. Get it looked at anyway, even if you feel alright now.
Why hasn't anyone mentioned the NHS Walk-in centre at the Hallamshire??? I apologise if someone did but I just had a quick scan through and couldn't find it mentioned.
You can see a nurse right away down there and they'll give you an idea of what's up. It's better than nothing isn't it?
Hope all is well
P :)
hi, i would just like to say i would seek expert advice before taking any painkillers eg , ibuprofen as in my opinon if you have stomach trouble these can irritate it and make things a lot worse .

P :) yes pauly i think you will see the walk in centre has been suggested .
Yellowrose 05-01-2006, 19:30 I used to have a card for the Wybourn Well being centre, which was open to anyone, no appointment necessary. Is it still going?
Also when I have used NHS direct they have been spot on. The first time I had shingles on a sunday and they got me seen at a nearby hospital, the second time my son had appendicitis and they got him seen at the hallamshire and he was admitted direct from the walk in centre.
tinkabel 05-01-2006, 19:56 Hmmm is there chance this could be a bug? I've had the same symptoms for a week except mine are in the middle of my tummy and i've felt sick a lot of the time, oh and extremely tired! I'm hoping i come on because i get more and more pregnant like symptoms every day!
Could it be a bug?
SatanInHeels 05-01-2006, 20:07 it might be, a lot of my friends have had that bug.. they have been feeling sick (or have been sick) and stuff too though and i havent at all.. plus its a very ongoing bug if it is that :s
hope you feel better soon! ..pregnancy test not a good idea? X
