i bought a McLAren stroller from Toys'r'us in april last year
which i rarely use, the stroller is in really good condition apart from the fact that it snapped along the side bar a few days ago.
i have called the shop who say it only has 6 months guarantee for strollers. on the website it says most items have 12 months.
does anyone have any advice for me as this cost me £100 and i have hardly had use of it
thanks

This Maclaren (http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41197000/jpg/_41197535_crash_getty.jpg) turned out very expensive to repair.

Did you buy it from their store, or over the web? If you bought it from a store, it would have been good customer service of them to tell you of the guarantee period.
Mothercare guarantee prams for a period of 6 or 12 months depending on certain conditions. I think if the pram is £100 or over, it has a 12 month guarantee, otherwise it's a 6, but Toys R us may have a different policy.

I'm sure there's something from Trading Standards that states anything sold should be 'Fit for purpose' and i think it is fair to say that a stroller shoudl last longer than 6 months (albeit a 10 y/o shouldn't use it).
Good luck savbaby and someone else maybe able to assist further.
These are the key facts of the sales of Goods Act 1979, the bit of law that's relevant to your prob.
The goods you bougt must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, safe and DURABLE... I think you could argue it's not been durable. Also to quote 'It is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is responsible if goods do not conform to contract'. I would go back to the seller, not manufacturer first and quote the Sales of Goods Act, and ask them if they're prepared to do anything to honour that. You could also try calling Sheffield Trading Standards if you need further advice.
Good luck and give em hell!
thanks to everyone for their replies. i am going to try my luck with them and if not try taking it further.
i probaly use the stroller once a week, not even sometimes so i think i could certainly argue it was not durable
