View Full Version : Xmas does it cost more and more every year?
katy1981 04-01-2006, 13:22 do you parents out there feel that you have to out do the year before i.e buy bigger better presents we all want our kids to have everything we can give them or even if you dont have kids do you feel you have to out do the neighbours decorations or out do other peoples gifts to family and freinds
do you feel that you have to out do the previous year?
if so why?
SpeedwayDan 04-01-2006, 13:35 no, i was always told to only spend what i can afford.
i can imagine, if you're a parent, you want to buy what your kids want, but im sure all of us here wanted things our parents couldn't afford, and those that get everything they ask for, tend to be spoilt, not that im bitter or anything:suspect: :hihi:
I don't have kids, so any presents I buy are for adults. Adults who realise it's the thought that counts, not the price tag. So no, I don't overspend at all.
I spent very little this year, it took more effort to pick the prezzies, but I've still got plenty of money left.

LellyBee 04-01-2006, 13:50 I don't go overboard with pressies for my son. I ask him for ideas as to what he may like, if I can afford them then fair enough, but to be honest, it's not like he's ever going to do a Tiny Tim and have nothing.
He doesn't live with his dad but stays with him regularly so that means that my son gets 2 lots of Crimbo pressies and 2 lots of birthday pressies from 2 quite separate families; a fact my neighbours daughter commented on, she was quite envious :heyhey:

lucyarcher 04-01-2006, 19:00 Christms seems to get more and more expensive every year, and yet my wage doesn't follow the pattern!
I spent more this year, but only because I chose too and that being down to that I had a bit more available.
Of course I don't have to put up with any kids and adults who are ungrateful won't get one next year.
