Hallo
I work for a pilot project called 'active learning for active citizenship', and we're looking for volunteer recruits for an exciting project...
We'll be looking at local e-democracy - how the internet is used by our local council, and comparing it with what's happening in three other European cities. You don't need any computer skills - or any more than you already have if you're reading this.
We'll look at questions like:
Could e-democracy make politics accountable?
Could it make government responsive?
Help you understand your world / change your city?
How good is the council's website? How does it compare to others in the EU?
You'll have the chance to go to Malta, all expenses paid, in the summer - it'll be great!
Its part of an EU link up with Lithuania, Spain and Malta. There will be some seminar style discussions every two - three weeks from Jan to at least March - and then we're all gonna bundle off for a free trip to Malta in early summer, to meet our European compadres.
So - come along to our introductory meeting:
Tuesday 10th January, 5.30-7pm
Scotia Works, Leadmill Road.
(Scotia Works is just to the left of the Leadmill Nightclub. There'll be a sign on the glass door as to how to get in.)
If you want to join in, please let me know, so we have some idea of numbers. Either phone me on 07968 997861, e-mail at dan@aktivix.org, or let's discuss it here.
We'll communicate with our EU partners through the project's website - www dot racatel dot net
Please pass this on to anyone who you think might be interested.
Brilliant... hope to see you next Tuesday!
