I feel like a naughty girl. Not sure what they expect but it will be staying their until they collect it.

Perhaps each resident is only allowed to cut 1 sq metre of his garden per week.

Next time you'll have to position the bags strategically along your road outside houses with no green bags.

Just be careful of the one idiotic neighbour who'd complain if you put litter in their bin.

I hate to see the sacks left out on pavements or grass verges for weeks on end and was dufficiently miffed with some clown who blocked off the pavement that i contacted Veolia. I was suprised to hear them saying that they inform all their customers that the sacks should be kept on the property and not dumped on the pavement, I don't think this message is getting through

Why not email your local councillors and Veolia, ask them what to do with the extra ones. We did, only one councillor replied and there was no response from Veolia but we did get the remaining bags collected thanks to the intervention of the councillor. We had 16 bags but the collection had been requested well before the maximum of 6 recently imposed.

Just to be clear: the sacks are on my property on top of my wall and there they can stay.

So crack is, deposit 6 sacks outside each house with 0 outside them.

Veloia have to stop and start multiple times to pick up your rubbish and it is harder work for them, but the arbitrary limit imposed overrules common sense.

I had 7 green sacks to pick up couple of weeks ago, rang veolia to ask for them to be picked up (just before the monthly collections started) I was aware that it was a maximum of 6 but thought I may get away with just one more. I jokingly asked the operator if I could just pretend it was next doors and she replied that they will not pick up unless the neighbor rings up to confirm it's his! anyway I left all 7 out and they were picked up and no naughty girl note left for me :-)

Christ almighty this lot work for you at your expense! Wait for them to arrive and have a quiet but forceful word with them. Ask for their line manager's name and works telephone number. Give them hell!

How many green sacks did you leave? If it was more than 6 then they won't collect them. Also you must have difficulty reading, its pretty clear on the information that was sent out.

To be fair though, if we are supposed to be trying to increase the amount we recycle... Having limits to how much can be recycled per week is a bit of a stupid policy.

Quite! I can't understand what the fuss is about. It quite clearly says 6 is the maximum for each visit. Leave 6 out per month until they're all gone. Seems simple enough to me but then I'm capable of rational thought which doesn't include yelling at people for no good reason as suggested by other people.

It's per month and it's garden waste. Unless you own a park, I can't see many people having more than that *every* month.

I've just left the bags on my boundary before without booking an appointment; basically I saw that other neighbour's green bags were going out so left mine out too - they got picked up.

Did they at least take 6 and leave the rest?

I had eight sacks they took six and left a sticker on one of the two remaining. Not sure if my neighbours were up to quota.

I can read, I did know it was six but to be honest

1.5 bags of garden waste per weekend is pathetic and a quarter of what was offered last year.

but that said If they cant be bothered to collect, I cant be bothered to recycle. It can go in the black bin if or stay where it is.:D

and dont get me started on the extraordinary large lime tree that drops everything onto my garden but accordinging to the letter from the council is not a priority to lop or trim. At least one of my green sacks was branches from the base of the tree so I can get up my drive.

I would imagine the limit is six bags because of vehicle capacity.

The lorry routes must be planned in advance, with the knowledge of how many bags are going to be picked up. If they know they have to get round X number of customers that day, picking up Y number of bags that's fine. But if half the customers have put out extra bags, it'll screw up that days route...

It used to be up 12 bags, and in theory, you could call for a collection as often as you like. I can easily generate 12 bags a month. Come autumn (I live opposite a woods) I can generate that much in an afternoon! Rest has to go in the black bin, I guess.

Issue I have is that I'm told they must be visible from the road, ie they can be seen without them getting out of the truck. I can put them in my front 'yard' but unless they're looking, they won't see them. I've tried explaining that the only option is then to put them out on the pavement, but there's only pavement on one side of my road, and it's already very narrow, so I will block the street for pedestrians, pushchairs etc. They were not too interested in what my options might be - perhaps i could make a giant sign saying "Garden Sacks Here!" and display it at the gate....

I called up several weeks ago to find out when our area was due for collection and was told I needed to book one. So I did, and told the person on the phone I had 9 bags to collect. She said that was fine, leave them visible and they'll be collected. They've been on our driveway since then.

Now they have reverted to regular collections of no more than 6 bags! I just wish they'd make their minds up. I'm not removing them, and its likely I'll have another one by the weekend. I've just rung Veolia to confirm, and told them that those of us who had made arrangements before the changeover should have them honoured. But that would appear to be too sensible and option. :shakes:

Customer service does seem to be going backwards. :(

Why dont you just drive out to the woods and dump the contents?it will be good for wildlife.

yes, thought so rational, you forgot that people do not like the look of loads of bags or decomposing organic waste lying around.

and in your post about unless owning a park, some people do have more than a little courtyard. imposing the rule for everyone is just lazy. they should atleast test and adapt the rule for different areas.

im guessing not everyone had 6 or more in the area, so its common sense on the collectors part that just collecting the extra bags that make up for people who dont have their quota is the better idea, rather than forcing it to build up.

and dont get me started on the extraordinary large lime tree that drops everything onto my garden but accordinging to the letter from the council is not a priority to lop or trim. At least one of my green sacks was branches from the base of the tree so I can get up my drive. The council send out letters telling residents to prune back overhanging branches that obstruct the highway. These include a timescale for removal, and the threat that they'll then carry out the work and bill you for it - just send them a similar letter, and invoice (preferably from an expensive tree surgeon with a waste carrier's licence) :D

Somebody commented about owning a park... if you have a larger property with a larger garden, you pay more council tax, which presumably is supposed to cover things like increased need for green waste collection

I used to ask a neighbour for the use of the left over space in his bin and was pruning a boundary bush at 6am one morning when a bloke in hi-vis told me to just dump the large branches on the kerb instead of trying to chop them up and squeeze them in the bin - he was standing on the corner waiting for his bin lorry to turn up so he could start work :D I was given some incredibly disapproving looks by passing drivers :hihi: but the lorry turned up and it all went in without seeing a bin!

My god, I,m just happy we have a monthly collection, we have quite a large garden and have regularly taken our waste to the local tip, 6 bags per month should be more than adequate unless, as one person posted, you live in a park.
