View Full Version : Where has all the fruit and veg gone?
just got back from asda, now i know they stock up over night but there was virtually no fruit and veg in the store. The shelves were 90% empty. There was only veg that people don't want to buy like mouldy cauliflours and those spring green things don't think i saw any fruit.
Tried asking the checkout guy where it was but he didn't seem to know.
Have a couple of theorys
1. healthy eating has really taken off (new year)?
2. there is some kind of delivery strike?
3. Asda are just not very good at stocking up?
:help: :help: :help: :help: :help:

Try the markets - they fruit and veg may look odd sometimes but it's tastier and cheaper!

sufc_tom 04-01-2006, 12:41 Yes. and the reason its cheap is because its been pressure grown with endless chemicals and so on. Im no organic snob (I cannot afford to be) but im very sceptical.
Also, when you see cheap poulty and the markets the reason why is again it has been pumped with steroids and growth enhancers which leaves massive amounts of nasty nitrate levels in your food.
greengrocers at bottom of moor is overflowing with fruit and veg

Yeah, but do you think the stuff you buy in the supermarket is any different?

Phooey !! The fruit and veg available in the markets is likely to be from the same source as that in the supermarket; it's often stuff the supermarkets reject on the grounds of shape, size, weight or some other nit-picking criiteria that doesn't satisfy the supemarket's idea of what the customer wants.

On a TV program they said you can tell which chickens have had a horrible life from the burn marks on their legs where they have sat down in s**t and it's burned their skin off. Next time you're in the supermarket check-out the chickens knees, they are all burned.

I saw a carrot on the market that was exactly the same size and shape as my own penis. I had to buy it because of this but £18 for one carrot - i nearly had a heart attack. Which, incidently, is the same reaction some of you ladees have when you see my fruit and veg!

Plenty at the Infirmary Rd store:).
Or there was this afternoon.
it is probably because of the latest news report that eating fresh fruit and veg is the main risk of disease
Or I may be quite wrong
