I have an OPTOMA H30A DLP projector which retails at around £1100 give or take a bit, and is now a discontinued model I think so you may get it much much cheaper. Its SUPERB QUALITY....I use it on a 9ft wide cinema screen with a native 2:35.1 (proper widescreen cinema ratio) set-up and it looks superb with DVD inputs. It also has standard 4:3 and 16:9 options and is very good at just 8ft from a wall, or 30 ft from a wall!! Lamp life is up to 3000 hours and they run very very quietly as well.

LCD projectors have improved a lot in the last 6 months, the SANYO range at about £1200 are OK, but still, DLP has the edge if you want a picture without that ghastly 'chicken wire' hatch pattern across it like cheap LCD's have.

Depends on your budget, if you have £3K then go for the OPTOMA H79, its unbeatable for anything at the price, but if less than £1200, see if you can pick up an OPTOMA H30A as an end of line model......its still unbeatable at the price and produces the most stunning video projector picture this side of £3K!!
