View Full Version : Good Solicitor for CSA/Child Access hearing needed
My partner is going to court in 3 weeks regarding CSA payments and child access. Basically his ex wife moved away with the kids and didn't tell my partner where they moved to, so subsequently he hasn't seen them in 3 years. Meanwhile, the CSA are chasing him for more money even though he has been self employed for 15 months and earns less then ever so he hasn't paid the extra they are demanding, hence they are taking him to court to get the outstanding money. This goes into thousands of pounds and we cannot afford to pay it, he told the CSA of his change in circumstances and expected a reassessment of the case and the costs he has to pay, but he heard nothing until now, when he received a court summons.
We need a solicitor with experience of dealing with CSA demands for high amounts of money, and if they have experience of being good at child access cases so much the better. Although the child access (or lack of it) is not the main issue it's very important to my partner that the court realise that he has no idea where the kids are, so that perhaps they can do something to help him.
Any recommendations would be gratefully received, and the sooner the better please as he doesn't have much time before the court date.
Thanks everyone,
Kathryn

I can't help with solicitors cos my ex- still got screwed but I was in your position; ex- with a child he hadn't seen in 12 years and getting his arms and legs ripped off by the CSA. My experience is that it doesn't matter how good a solicitor you get, as the father they will take everything they can get. Some weeks his take-home pay was less than £30 and the CSA thought this was acceptable.
He also didn't know where his ex- or the child lived, although he always had an idea, but we were once driving a hired car and in the space of 100yds, we were seen and his ex- got all his money frozen and took him to court to make him sell the car and give her the money! The summons arrived on Christmas Eve and he was in court the day after the New Year Bank Holiday. He got legal aid but still got a bill for over £250.
Good luck
