I just went out to my car to find a dead sparrow on the back passenger seat - feathers and everything. Haven't a CLUE how it can have got there...Wasn't there this morning when I drove to work - had the window open maybe 5 cm on my drive to work. I did hear a noise but having just drove past a bush assumed I banged a branch or something... certainly didn't notice a bird flying past my head to an untimely death.

Fortunately a nice man at school helped me remove said bird... but considering the circumstances - i think i remained remarkably calm!

I think thats awful, for both you and the bird. i once had a pigeon stuck behind my fire, rattled around for a full day before the council came to remove it, thankfully it survived.

I have been told if a bird fly hit a window it meens you with have bad look ( superstition ). but unsure?

Does any one else no why bird are pain getting in to awkward place's?

Working for the council gas service you do come across the occasional bird behind the fire. They're usually dead but I did come across a live pigeon once when I was following one of the more experienced repair fitters as a trainee. Luckily it behaved itself and was easily put outside but some have been known to flap about wildly, fly around and redecorate your living room before being forced outside. Yuk!!! :gag:

Do you have a cat? If you do cats are known for catching birds and giving them to their owners as a sign of love. If there was a door open for a bit or something he might of jumped in or something with the bird and then left it there. I dont know. Just clutching at straws here . lol

We once had a bird crash into our Conservatory window, took it down to the Vet's on Holme Lane, Vet examined it and 2 minutes later the bloody thing took off flying round the room... Vet kept saying for god sake don't anybody open any windows or anything!

Sorry but I do think it was an extremely insensitive comment to make considering there are still relatives of his victims living in the local area.

I remember when I was a callow youth of about sixteen I visited a mates' house. When I got there, my mate's mother appeared to be a little distressed and said that she had just been up to her bedroom and was shocked to find a bird flying around the room.

Without thinking, I said, 'I wouldn't mind finding a bird in my bedroom - although I'm not so keen on sparrow legs'!

I suddenly realised that it was not the right thing to say. Luckily my mate's mother saw the funny side and burst out laughing - in fact she repeated this story many times afterwards.

Why did you need to help to pick up the dear departed little spuggie? Was it wedged in a difficult place or something

We occasionally had starlings drop down the chimney and out of the fireplace - they would go (understandably) bananas and charge around the room, leaving a delightful layer of soot everywhere :P Pleased my mother no end!

After some time working away from home, I found a dead Magpie in my front room window sill, looked liked it had been trying to get out the window but couldn't because of the glass. Must admit I freaked a little when I saw it, a Magpie of all things :o Scooped it up with a shovel and buried it in the garden.
