What happened to them?
Used to have a little (retail?) shop up on West Street (early 70's, just above the old West Street Hotel, when it was a proper pub) and a big factory down towards Paternoster Row in the centre of Sheffield.....

That could have been George Butlers or Greaves Cabinet Makers both opposite each other on Sydney St just on from Paternoster Row. Then there was Cooper Brothers on Arundel St.

The city has altered in that area, Greaves was demolished and is now the site of yet another apartment block and Butlers went ages ago and the site is now a car park.
A few of the old companies are still there though and Eric's the sandwich shop is still going strong.

Another city landmark gone, boo hiss, I suppose they'll be taking what was Jones Fluorescent shop, Eric's and probably the Matilda pub as well to build yet another featureless drab looking brick apartment block..

You are spot on Wallbuilder, the buyer has bought the Matilda and Erics with the intention of opening both up again, Im not sure about the old Flourescent Lighting place.
I dont think Erics will be the same but a sandwich shop is better than no sandwich shop.

Does anyone know anyone that used to work there in the 80's and 90's?
