View Full Version : Who's Not Going Out Tonight.. Excuses Please!

Who else is having a 'quiet' night in, through choice or otherwise.. Why aren't you going out to spend a load of cash in town, to a friends party, or just to generally wander the streets in a drunken stupor..?!

Me, I'll be staying in due to my three-and-a-half year old not being allowed into licensed premises yet.. Last time I was out on a New Years Eve was four years ago in 2001 when I worked, and got paid a bleedin' fortune for it :)

Exciting stuff, might get half cut, and watch Jools Holland :P Hold onto your hats!

Well I'll recognise your efforts, Bob.. been there many a time indeed. Are you working in the service industry by any chance.. dealing with the revellers tonight? :) The only recompense being the triple time!

We am not going out, because we have a three-week-old baby, who will doubtless be woken by the barrage of fireworks at midnight, five minutes after we have got her to sleep.:help:

Happy New Year everyone!

I'm incredibly hungover from the last 3 nights.

Having a birthday 2 days before new years's eve is always a sod, this is the second time i've drank myself into such a state the night before all I've been able to do is curl up in a dark room with the tv.

Plus public transport is ridiculous, reminds me why I love city centre living when I'm at uni, no buses that decide to not come at after 4pm.

I'm gonna watch the DvDs I got for christmas, have a beer and a burger, shoot some stuff on Quake 4 and see if any good films are on the telly.

Man, I knew 22 was a year you felt old :(

I am all for the Forum party though - I trust there are plenty of cheese and pickled onions on sticks? are there any soft drinks?

Sorry Madowl - not much good at dancing, I am afraid - I will join in a bit later, when the party warms up!

This is the first time since I was 17 years old that I haven't been down the pub on new years eve:wow:

I only get out for two pints since our son was born in August, so hardly worth the struggle in busy pubs, plus the walk back from my locals includes 10 mins of 'Everest' country and no buses.

Anyway Mrs Draggle is catching up on some much needed sleep so I am on 'dummy' and lullaby alert :)

Have just finished putting some flat-pack storage units together and am now having a well deserved whisky. Maybe I'd have understood the instructions better if I'd had the whisky first! Still, the units are looking more attractive by the minute-alcohol makes even Argos look good.

I went for a meal in the evening last night, but I didn't go out at midnight or anything. Reasons... well, I hadn't booked anywhere, most places I knew of were expensive, mum wanted to spend new years eve with me, no one to go out with or no one to invite me to a party, and also I was kinda tired. Ah well.

Haven't been out on NYE since our kids had kids of their own, 16 years now :)

So we had a housefull of kids last night, - just got back from delivering the last of them, - but they did us a favour by scoffing most of the chocolate that had piled up over Christmas :P

I must be getting old.
Had been invited to a party but turned it down. Went out into Sheffield in the afternoon but my friend and i couldn't time it right to meet up with another group of friends so that didn't come off.
Went home, tried to get in my local but it was ticket only, went to a decent pub for a drink but miles from friend's house so we drove back to hers and walked to the pub at the bottom of her road.
After an hour we were bored and fed up with the smoke and having to stand, she had champagne back at hers and we weren't talking to anyone but each other so we decided we could do that in the comfort of her place, drink the champers and sing along to Jools Holland. So we went back to hers for midnight and both said, a bit guiltily that we were glad we had - lol!
Will save my big night out for next Saturday. Too much pressure to enjoy new year. Have said next new year though will definitely go away.
