Mod note:
Sorry to have had to do this but the BNP thread has been removed after an unsuitable link was posted to a graphic video of a public execution.
Sadly, if members with opposing views cannot be trusted to debate in a sensible manner within the rules of SF then we have to pull that thread and deny the many level headed members the opportunity to discuss particular political parties.
Once things have calmed down we hope that things can get back to normal and that proper discussion can go ahead on these sensitive topics.

Would it not have been possible to have removed the post containing the link rather than removing the whole thread? I know Joe had already closed the thread and I have no problems with that, but surely it would have been more reasonable to retain it as a closed thread rather than remove it altogether (particularly because it contained some interesting, thoughtful posts amid the dross and rubbish).
Sadly LordChaverly it had rather descended into the mire and the fastest course of action was to remove it.
I will take a look at it to see if it can be rescued, but obviously that involves time and effort to strip the bones out of it. I also have grave reservations about future postings that may appear and the amount of Mod Team time that the thread has absorbed in the last week of so. I think various people need ot take a step back for a while.
I will try, but can't promise at the moment. I don't (and TBH won't) want to get into a moderating discussion on this one as I'm simply reacting to the circumstances that I saw it this morning.
Sorry once again.
I'm very disappointed about the behaviour of that poster on the BNP thread.
It's a shame when people had posted sensible stuff in at the end.
I like to see political debate on here - it's a shame that it always ends like this.

well the mod in question (who removed the thread) only had to remove the link, or the full post with the link, which has been done before.....i myself have had full posts removed rather than the whole thread
it smacks to me of "i dont like this thread, im fed up with it, now ive got an excuse for it to go"

I think that katy1981 and JoeP said it all. I'm closing this notice thread down now.
Once again, apologies for the behaviour of others.
Thread replaced, still locked, with deletions of offensive material.
Anyone wishing to review the thread - you can now do so.
It will NOT be useful to go over old ground again.
