View Full Version : Accident in Hillsborough this morning (5th March 2004)
As I was on my way to College this morning, going through the traffic lights at Hillsborough corner, I noticed there had been an accident involving a motorbike and a bus.
This was around 9 AM this morning, so I just wondered if anyone had seen or heard anything about it, as the accident had already happened when I passed there, back end of the bike was ploughed into the bus just outside Woolworths.
It looked clear that it had happened near the junction between Hillsborough corner/Bradfield Road/Langsett Road and Middlewood Road at that time.
So yeah, anyone know what I'm on about? Was anyone seriously hurt there or worse?

There's a bus that is a Mass northern transit bus used by Tapton and Bradfield schools for the kids. It has Galaxy 105 painted all over it.

What do you mean Fletch, "taught him"?
Did it cross your mind that the accident may not have been the riders fault at all but that of a car driver suffering from the usual case of "Sorry mate, I didn't see you."?

Fletch is 14, therefore he is still inflicted with teenage idiotness.
I'm not saying this ought to be right, but if you ride a bike, you open yourself to a lot of danger (often not your fault), so i recon given it's well known that most car drivers don't look out for bikes, you have to cope with the risk that one day somebody could involve you in an accident. Either that, or choose a mode of transport that is less likely to injure you in an accident or make you more visible.
On a side note, i think everyone ought to learn how to ride a motorbike to know what it is like, and perhaps to teach the majority to look out for them. Having said, I haven't done that myself yet.
It was one of those mass buses used to transport kids to school. These guys are crazy, get one following you after they’ve dropped kids off, all over your back bumper they are!

It is awful to hear about, unfortunate reality.
Everyone knows someone who has been killed/injured on one.
At the moment I ride a scooter and it is much fun and safer than tearing around at 80mph or 120mph everywhere on the VFR that I had before.
Drivers please use your mirrors a little more...

And your mobile phones a LOT less.... unless you have a bluetooth headset like a mate of mine's got in his car.

OK, so as an experianced rider you'll know all about road positioning on two wheels. How different is it now on the scooter against the larger cubed machines? All too often I see novice scooterists being shoved over into the gutter by four wheeled drivers.
80mph and 120mph?:o C'mon, you know we bikers never top 70mph:nono::wink::nod::D
