I bought some clothes from America over the internet and when i received them i had to pay a customs or VAT charge or something of £51...can anyone tell me how this thing works by any chance?...for example is it the more you spend the more you get charged when your goods arrive?

I'm just debating whether or not to do it again!

Thanks

vats 17.5% innit?

so 17.5% of what the goods cost is added on?

I think if you spend over £18 you get charged VAT and import duty, plus any fees the post office deems worthy of adding for 'handling'. I've got a link somewhere; I'll see if I can find it.

If you can get things marked up as a customer sample that tends to help avoid VAT and import duty chargers. ;)

Think i'm going to your gig next friday.
