i have a nokia 6230 which i want to use with a o2 sim (currently using a T-mobile sim) but when i put the o2 sim in it says enter restriction code. anyone?

you need an unlock code for it. You can either use one of the many pay sites to generate one for you, or, if you dig around a bit, its easy enough to do it yourself.

PM DaBouncer, he has a site on which you can unlock Nokias for free.

Otherwise, you'll have to get it unlocked at someone like Zarelli's on Pinstone St or one of the stalls in Castle Market can do it for about £10-15.

Not many people know that if you call your network provider and ask them, they will usually give you your unlocking code.

It does take a few weeks though.

i did actually call my network provider, they said it will cost £15 and will also take 3 weeks, but guess what? i found a site and unlocked it in 3 seconds and guess what? for FREE!

3 weeks to unlock a phone?! WTF?! :lol: They're having a larf mate.

yea but the company has to find out the imei number of the phone and confirm its not stolen, i used to work for a phone shop in meadowhall bus station n it used to have to be sent off to be unlocked when they first came out so think ya'self lucky

yeh i just bought a nokia 6230i on ebay (my mom bought it me and got one that was locked to vodaphone, i'm on virgin; easy mistake to make) and i dont wana change sim cos i hate vodaphone, dont wana change my number or network and transfer numbers. im going to PM that guy rich mentioned earlier as soon as i boost my post count...

One thing to note.

"Unlocking" any mobile like this invalidates the warranty on the handset (and it is dead easy to know if it has been done, too).

found an unlcok free ware for nokia only. it did my 6610i in seconds.
