Rumour has it they are having them on the 76s. Be fun getting it up Woodseats Road.

What is the point? Can get as many on a double deck. There arent many low bridges in Sheffield that cant be negotiated by a double decker.

Oh God my knowledge of this subject is starting to worry me. Better stop now or I'll get a reputation.:loopy:

I think they should stop making 76 double deckers, make the 53 or 75 double decker as they always seem to be more full :)

Surely the 75 seems more full cos its a single decker? the 53 rarely gets more than 50% full outside of rushhour

I think that the reason bendy buses are back in is that more people can stand and they are more accessible

Sounds like on of the First FTR (pronnounced future) new concept bendi-buses being trialled. Basically following market research First found most people prefered trams to their buses, so they have come up with a bus that is like a tram..

The last I head was First's Rotherham engineering department was given the job of doing the testing and trialling, including running ghost services with no passengers on in Sheffield.

If the testing goes OK, these buses will go to York to run their first public services.

It is thought that Sheffield may get them later to operate along the Penistone Road corridor.

Yes probably much later about 10years later springs to mind.

Bendy buses are an utter piece of shh in the uk as we have double deckers which take LESS SPACE on the road and carry more passengers that you can ever cram into a single decker or bendy bus.

What First (I did read the BB is barbie painted) want to do is make us stand rather than have a seat on the bus, hence the purpose of the bendy bus.
What they probably can't get it in their thick heads is that the last two bendy bus schemes kinda failed and got lost due to lack of interest...

Scrap ALL single deckers and have all em buses as double deckers just like back in the day when you could wait for a bus and have 4 turn up at the same time after 30seconds waiting.

Then there's that of getting them bendy electric trolley buses, a ploy to make people think First's crumy buses are trams... the schemes are all over europe detested with nuisance and accident happening due to a poor system in place. what needs to be done is get MORE TRAMS, not pseudo trams. We aren't going to accept a placebo of a tram. :gag: :gag:

pfffeeeww, new year's resolution, must destroy First from the surface of the earth... :suspect: :suspect:

Not on the north side of the route, unless its happened over the past 3 months - I have probably experienced a (more than 10 minutes) late/missing 53 bus probably no more than 5 times in the past 3 years (and we're talking hundreds of journeys), and i've never seen it using a minibus

as for the comments about double deckers, double deckers have a capacity in the region of 88 people, including standees

the ftr vehicle (which would also bring back conductors) has a capacity of 100 people including standees... so it would be better on busy corridors :)
