View Full Version : Unofficial Forum Meet-Harlequin-Monday 20th June-7.30pm onwards.
Swami Dhyan 11-06-2011, 14:39 Hi everyone. This month's Harlequin meet fast approaches. The pub can be found on Nursery Street. Buses 47/48/53 and Stagecoach service 87 stop right outside. There is also a large free car park next door.
Everbody is welcome to come and enjoy a drink, good company/conversation and once again I will add that these meets are always very newby friendly.
This meeting will be the last one I organise. I've had a good run (3 & half years) as organiser and if, as I hope, this meet lives on then we need a volunteer. :)
Those coming.
Swami Dhyan
Zinger549
pattricia
steelhead4
SpiderPete
Denlin
Linda
Maybe coming.
Rich
Janet
I fell out with the Harlequin when they stopped selling Blonde for £1.50 on Mondays :(
Might ask Dad if he'll let me come though.
Zinger549 11-06-2011, 22:50 Should be along for this. Drunk Swami is a site not to be missed. :hihi:
pattricia 11-06-2011, 22:58 Will ask Janet if she will come along with me.:)
steelhead4 13-06-2011, 00:10 Its Midsummer eve which will mean a long night for me but I should be there :)

Aye...the £1.50 days are sadly missed Rich. However, I'm sure you'll have little difficulty in finding another superb brew...albeit at prices a quid a pint more than your beloved Blonde. :)
SpiderPete 13-06-2011, 11:47 Put me down for a yes :)
Why is it your last one to organise ?, would be a shame to see it vanish forever, if no volunteer steps forward. :(
I'd volunteer but I can't guarantee attendance EVERY time, and as the OP of the thread for every third Monday of the month, I would be obliged to turn up.
Zinger549 13-06-2011, 14:46 Tut, tut, tut young man! :suspect::hihi:
I'm dyslexic. :D
Swami Dhyan 13-06-2011, 20:23 I'm dyslexic. :D
It would have been far worse had you added an h...I'm thankful for small mercies. ;)
Swami Dhyan 19-06-2011, 14:12 Nudge, nudge folks...it's tomorrow. Anybody else fancy an evening out?
nightlight59 19-06-2011, 14:15 Isnt it quite expensive in that pub?
You've forgotten us Swami Dhyan
Swami Dhyan 19-06-2011, 16:48 Isnt it quite expensive in that pub?
As far as I am aware the cheapest pint is £2.20 and the average is £2.60.
You are welcome to join is if you like. :)
Swami Dhyan 19-06-2011, 16:53 You've forgotten us Swami Dhyan
Sorted.
SpiderPete 20-06-2011, 15:30 It is unlikely I will make it now... Murray is on centre court next and a couple of ladies are playing.
Please accept my apologies for not being able to attend. Living in East Anglia and working in education limits the third Mondays of the month OH and I can make it to a Harlequin meet. Our next one should have been in December and I was already thinking about Christmas shopping in Sheffield to buy some lovely Sheffield souvenirs for my southern jessie friends.
I'm sorry that Swami is retiring and I hope that some other devotee will pick up the reins he is laying down.

Come on Murry or would you rather Roger Federer. :hihi:
It's a no from me, I can't afford Taxi both ways plus drinks :(
*Peaches* 20-06-2011, 19:10 Oh PANTS I forgot this was tonight :(
Swami, next one give me a nudge a few days before?

Its the last forum meet Swami is doing, and it was such a good one. I was so glad with it being his last one. I nearly didnt go, but only decided at the last minute. It was so nice when RubyDazzler walked in.:) It was the icing on the cake really.!:)
Swami Dhyan 21-06-2011, 08:49 A big thankyou to Denlin, Linda, Zinger549, Pattricia and rubydazzler...especially for the lift home ruby...I was pretty much the worse for wear to be honest. Somehow I drank more than I intended to...again.
It was a most enjoyable evening and I ached from laughing...especially at Pattricia's response to the question, "What is a kangeroot?"
I really hope someone out there will pick up the reins and that this monthly get together will continue.
pattricia 21-06-2011, 11:53 No one has thanked Swami for arranging all these meets over the last three and a half years, I believe, so I would like to do so.
How fantastic that it should end on a high note like this !!!!:)
harvey19 21-06-2011, 12:37 Hi Swami, I haven't made many meets but those I did were very enjoyable.
It's a great idea to be able to meet other posters.
Sincere thanks for your lead in organising these meets.
Agent Orange 21-06-2011, 18:24 Oh, I am sad to hear that this could be the end of the legendary Monday night meets. I have been really snowed under of late and have missed the Monday night banter and drink. I was hoping to come along to another sometime soon.
Thanks Swami for the effort you have put into organising the meets.
Yes thanks muchly Swami, we will still have the meets and we will be welcoming your company still. If anyone has any alternative venues and dates for the next one please feel free to put suggestions forward and if it's not too presumptious I don't mind posting the venue and time. Swami is a great leader and hard act to follow:clap::clap::clap:
steelhead4 22-06-2011, 10:56 personally I'd keep the venue and monday nights , its a nice place and mondays keeps it quiet enough to chat

M'lud, If it please the court, I would like it to go on record that I wholeheartedly concur with my learned friend.

Would that still be the third Monday of the month?
Swami Dhyan 22-06-2011, 17:41 Would that still be the third Monday of the month?
I don't know to be honest chimay. It's up to whoever wants to take it on.
If it helps...I started this meet because I so much enjoyed the old forum meets at the Rawson. I chose the third Monday of the month so it more or less fell halfway in the month to the Rawson one...if you see what I mean.
Now that the Rawson meet has become a Facebook group (which I still attend and enjoy) I suppose the Monday night could be changed. However, the Harlequin is busy on Wednesdays (quiz night) and at the weekend it often gets packed to the portals.
We chose Monday because it used to be "cheap night" with ale at £1.50 a pint. It's all relative though...I'm old enough to remember the twopenny Wagon Wheel...back in the days when it was as big as real one.! :D
