Just checking to see if buses were running normally and came across this, Has south Yorkshire really become this dumb??
next week I'll be posting the "How to think" instructions
How to catch a bus (http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/yorkhumber/southyorkshire/southyorkshire_images/Howtocatchabus.pdf)
If you have problems with the above use this one (http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/yorkhumber/southyorkshire/geninfo/stepbystep.php)

Madness!
But did anyone notice that it states there is change available if you do not have the correct change??!!! Come on!! How many of us have gotten on with a note and the bus driver has kicked off because supposidly he doesn't have change??? (Only to have a bag full behind his door!)
Sorry...I've just ranted haven't I?! Whoops...

I think First should probably show this to some of their drivers!
I've encountered a few who've driven straight past me at a bus stop before

I'm sure it also lies and states that "the driver will be happy to help" not in my experience!!

Perhaps it's really for the bus drivers so that they can see things from another point of view. The woman with her hand out in the freezing cold doesnt mean speed up and drive through the puddle next to her. ********!!

When the bus approaches your bus stop the number and destination of the service will be displayed on the front of the vehicle but sometimes you won't be able to read the display because it is poorly lit. Some routes in South Yorkshire are colour coded to make them easier to identify but we don't actually display the relevant colours on the display on the front of our buses because they can't display the colours so we just give the name of the colour.

Stagecoach have the same sort of thing on their website..

Actually, it's not such a daft idea.
In Edinburgh, for example, the bus driver's don't give change - you drop your pennies in to a box and then you get your ticket (may have changed recently, but that's certainly how it was until recently).
I've used the bus network in Florence, Anchorage (Alaska) and Whitehorse (Canada) and it IS different in different places - so a guide to the perplexed isn't a bad idea!
