Red Head 04-03-2004, 08:49 PM Hi All
Can anybody recommend the best unsigned bands to go see around Sheffield?? What sort of music do they play? What are the best venues for live music round here?
Cheers

There are loads of good Sheffield bands around at the moment.
The grapes and bar 101 are good value gigs.
Sunday roast is a monthly night at .zero which is good value and a great atmosphere.
Fez club has some good bands on.
Real promotions does some great gigs at the grapes
There is a free music festival on fargate which has the cream of Sheffield talent on sometime in march.
And it is good to see the classic rock bar up and running again.

mr.blaze 15-03-2004, 02:44 PM My mates have a band called Ninio but they haven't played for a while as they have been looking for a new drummer. Things seem to be sorted now so keep a look out for them. Guarenteed a great night if you manage to catch them.
Melanie 15-03-2004, 03:31 PM The best sheffield music forum can be found
here (http://www.l2sb.co.uk/forums/)
If you get out and about you can even make your OWN mind up! Good starting places for local noise are the grapes (from 8pmish) and the casbah (mon-thu only from 9.30pmish).
Good luck!

So far we have 52 bands booked for April! Watch out for the Air Guitar Competition on April Fools Day and the Bank Holiday Monday all day Open Mic session. We'll be donating 10% of whatever the bar takes that day and night to Sheffield Children's Hospital so come down and play a tune or listen to the talent on the carpet!
If you've any questions about any of the bands playing or want to know anything about the Classic Rock Bar, feel free to hit 'reply' to this email and the lovely Buffy will respond.

I was going to play with them for a while, and in their e-mails the words 'Blur' and 'Foo Fighters' were mentioned as to what they sound like, and when i got their demo it was anything but that. Have they found a guitarist yet? They seemed like nice guys so i do hope they're getting on with things.

I saw them years ago at The Grapes and they were really good. I'm suprised they're still going actually, because it has been 5 or 6 years since i saw them and i've heard very little of them since.

crazey 16-04-2004, 12:53 PM CELLAR HIGH!!!!
Definatly rock! One of the most fresh and exciting bands I have seen this side of the century! Funk, soul, uplifting, nothing like Jamquirqi but along the same funky lines. Note, This band aren't trying to be like anybody else, producing there own sound, there own songs and there own style. Good stage performance, create great atmosphere and def one that will get snapped up and signed soon. The venue where I went to see them went mad and had everyone screaming for one more! The lead singer had a brilliant stage performance, great voice and worked with the crowd, Have not seen that for a long while! Found out that they are playing at the Casbah on Monday the 3rd of May. Will def be there!!!
Am geniunly plugging this band as don't know them but think there bloody worth it!!!! X
boyface 16-04-2004, 01:38 PM er...no mention of the long blondes!
think blondie,think the slits,think cabs
I only seen em once but they were ace

Their website is www.yamaguchiuk.com
They have dropped the "Go Go" from their name and now just go by "Yamaguchi".
In my opinion they are one of the most talented bands around. Of course, I would say that since I am related to them.
Fat Baz 19-04-2004, 05:17 PM The Harley, Top of West Street.
I was in the Harley the other week on Monday, they had some good bands playing.
The place was open till 12.30, beer was reasonabley priced, the crowd was good.
I will be going back next Monday for another good night
cellarhigh 29-04-2004, 05:53 PM good idea, not to sound biased but all those who are into the live music scene come and check out the harley this bank holiday monday, there's three bands playing (of which cellarhigh is one), two for one cocktails, doubles are two pounds and it goes on til past 12.
It starts about 8 as well so all those that are going to the fuzz club day barbecue you can come afterwards then end up in fuzz club. The harley has started to come into its own recently and its got a good little atmosphere in there, even if your not there to see the bands.
tonydef 29-04-2004, 11:49 PM i play in a band called 'Dog Canute' - ramblings, wierdo timing and heavy guitars, think beefheart fingering shellac;)
playing @ the grapes 13th may
thats my plug over!!
check out 'the evil me', 'chora', 'the mother****ers' and 'the multiverse 3' - all cracking bands
rarstar 30-04-2004, 05:18 PM saw yamaguchi at the casbah last neet and they are fkin wicked
their website has mp3 samples on it www.yamaguchiuk.com
SilentStatic 30-04-2004, 07:54 PM I saw a shockingly good band a couple of years ago called Blue Room (I think). Amazing vocals and an intense energy on stage in Fuzz. A guy said they'd send me a CD but never did. I'm guessing they split up :( Don't suppose anyone knows anything?
Donovan 25-01-2006, 11:22 PM KIK are a great band, whose music is undescribable really (a mixture of electro rock and dance beats)
You have to see them live, their gigs rock!
I think they're playing at the Boardwalk in February, but I definately know they are playing in Manchester at Night & Day Cafe on 21st February.
I'll definately be going to both gigs.
checkout their website www.kikonline.com (http://www.kikonline.com) or their myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/kikuk)
Familiarise and appreciate!
leighrichy 26-01-2006, 09:56 AM I DJ a warm up bar before the owls home games.
If you want your local band played at this bar (I'll say who they are etc) for a bit of publicity - pm me details of where I can find your mp3 music and I'll have a listen (I must like it, obviously).
