View Full Version : Are dentists open tomorrow?
Yellowrose 27-12-2005, 21:09 Broke a tooth, or broke a bit off a tooth. One that had a filling in. Dentist did a temporary repair on it earlier in the year and said it should be OK ... and it waited until Christmas. I feel an expensive crown coming on!!!
mega_monty 27-12-2005, 21:13 I would have thought so, but whether they can fit you in at a short notice is another matter.
Yellowrose 28-12-2005, 12:17 In case anyone else is in the same position: No they are not!
Our dentist (in common with many others) is closed until 3rd January. The emergency dentist doesnt do repairs and fillings: just offers pain relief and antibiotics. NHS direct cant offer anything either!
Kirsty_87 28-12-2005, 12:19 Iv been to the dentist this morning! I go to Cyrstal Peaks dentist.
Yellowrose 28-12-2005, 12:58 When I contacted them a while ago they wouldnt take NHS patients, as they are nearer to me than my own dentist. Are they private only?

No theyr not a private dentist. I have no idea why they said that. We have been going there for years. Iv asked my mum and she says maybe its because theyr full?I dont know.
Yellowrose 28-12-2005, 13:24 It would be because their list is full I suppose.
Yellowrose 28-12-2005, 13:30 Just phoned the Crystal Peaks dentist. They are only seeing new patients privately, and an initial consultation would be £45. Then there would be the cost of my filling ... Just decided to go private because I cant stand it for another week!! My dentist might not be able to see me next week even when they do open. Its Mr O'Sullivan. Do you see him Kirsty?
Kirsty_87 28-12-2005, 13:33 Hmmm which dentist is it you go to now? Charles Clifford Dental Hospital has been suggested...
Yellowrose 28-12-2005, 13:40 My dentist at the moment is in Mosbrough Village, Rachel somebody or other. Its a bit of a trek and we are not that fond, so I will have to splash some cash. At least im in the Westfield. I dont think the Charles Clifford has the walk in clinic any more.
Zenmaster 28-12-2005, 13:57 they do if its an emergency - bleeding, swelling, unberable please-just-kill-me pain.

Only on these days, and only if you're not registered with a dentist already, so don't think it really applies.
Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th and Friday 30th of December
Yellowrose 30-12-2005, 17:09 I went to Kirsty's dentist and had it fixed privately because it was getting on my nerves. I will be getting it crowned privately by the same dentist in a couple of weeks as he seemed like a very nice bloke, not pushing me into having it done, and discussed all the options. I just don't want it to give way again, last time it did it just before we went on holiday, this time in the middle of Christmas. I thought a crown would be the best way of preserving my tooth in the long term.
Anyway I couldnt believe it when I related the above tale to my parents and my dad said "why didnt you have it pulled out?" :loopy:
PS THANKS KIRSTY FOR THE RECOMMENDATION!
