Can anyone tell me how to rid my pond of small black leeches.

get hold of a local chav and dip him in the pond.

the leeches will attach themselves to him and start to feed

after a few minutes, take him out and hang him somewhere

once the leeches are full they will drop off

you can then repeat the cycle until all your leeches are gone

As they are strongly attracted to liver, so put some liver in something that the fish can't get into, but the leaches can, and you have a leech trap.

What happens if you've got a kidney shaped pond? ... Do you need to pour in anti-rejection drugs too? :huh:

I have had leeches in our pond for years they are all in the filters too.
I have tryed the liver and caught a few but with the size off our pond its ust a nightmare.
We have lost around 5-6 extremely large fish this year as the leaches have been on the fish then they have rubbed and then the sores got infected and died.The size of our pond dosnt help as we cant allways see the fish and only mannage to get them out when they are really ill and floppy :(
We have done allsorts drained the pond half down and refilled and treated all the pond and the fish.
We are also at logger heads now as to what to do next with our pond as the fish are slowly going 1 by 1.

I find they stick to the underside of leaves, so I look under the water lilies every couple of days, it's amazing how many I get, plus leaves that fall into the pond, I leave them for a couple of days and then net them out.

Sell them! - Surely there's a demand for 'alternative medicine' in Sheffield? :hihi:

You could cut a chav in half.

Just been informed small black leeches are harmlwss to fish

that should obviously have been "harmless"
