I know it's the last Saturday before Xmas, (possibility of low crowds etc.), but why was there NO football today.

There is a full programme on Monday, so ALL professional footballers will have to be in for training tomorrow (Xmas Day), instead of being at home like the rest of us, with friends + family.

Is it just me that thinks this is absolutely barmy. They could have had the games today, and have Monday off like the rest of us.

Any other industry would have their union in on this.

But we've always had a full program of football on Boxing Day. I don't think the players would have enjoyed playing today and Monday :suspect:

Well I know that Stuart Pearce has given his Man City players Christmas off. Is that not normal?! :(

Yes I know Boxing Day is traditional, but these days WHY ???

Sky move games around all the time eg Friday Night, Sunday etc, so unless Boxing Day falls Tuesday or Wednesday, I say scrap the idea.

Don't you think attendances would have been hit if they had played on Christmas eve though?
Any other day would probably have been fine but not Christmas eve (or day)

If it had given me the excuse NOT to go Xmas shopping with Mrs P, then it would have been worth it's weight in GOLD.

:hihi:

dont talk stupid, there are many industries which state you must work bank holidays (ie boxing day) why would a union be bothered about them working this day??? or in fact any other day?? ridiculous comment
