I'm just interested in how many parents tell their children a story at bedtime be it from a book or otherwise.
What story will you tell your children tonight?

They're only 5 and 7 and don't believe anymore, its really sad. And when I was a little girl, there was a story thats been passed down my family to read every night on Christmas Eve, I can't remember what it is now. pk014b7161 24-12-2005, 14:57 i tell the grandkids bed time stories when they come to stay davyboy 24-12-2005, 15:13 I used to read to our two at bedtime and sometimes made up really pathetic stories. Amazingly at the age of 35+ they remember that Dad used to make up some really great bedtime stories. I now read to our G/daughter and make up stories the heros/herooines ofwhich have to resemble her own life. It's great bonding. Her favourites are quite surreal ones, like the Gruffalo books, but Mummy does a very good job on endlessly changing Goldilocks and the Three Bears round to have a different moral every time too. She has a pop up picture book version of The Night Before Christmas for tonight's story. melthebell 24-12-2005, 15:47 we always read the nippers bedtime stories, trouble is they always want 1 each the eldest (6 nearly 7) is starting to read now, so is starting to read her own :) Godzilla 24-12-2005, 17:24 I used to give my son a cast of characters (e.g. a little boy, a little girl, a witch, a wizard, a good fairy, a dog, a cat etc) and tell him he could just choose six. Then I would make up a story around the characters he'd chosen. lizzmobile 24-12-2005, 18:09 I tell them stories the whole time, like all day long, not just at bedtime!
