View Full Version : Self defence for women
Hi
I do like no sport whatsoever unless you include dancing.
I wanna keep fit and learn how to look after myself if I need to cos I just wouldnt know what to do if I got into that situation and theres some really weird guys in town lately!
Does anybody know of any classes?
*Twinkle* 24-12-2005, 13:30 I don't know of any classes, but I'd like to go with you if you found some classes...
Similarly, I wouldnt know what to do in a situation whereby I needed to defend myself physically... Apart from giving 'em a good kicking, but sometimes its not that simple...
Anyways, I shall keep an eye out for some classes :P
Ok we'll go together and go shoe shopping after :P
:heyhey: how bout i teach you both... i know very little but got to my 4th belt at ju-jitsu...
its all holds ;)

Crayfish 01-01-2006, 17:10 If you're interested in self defence, have a look on the sports and activities section of the forum - a lot of martial arts discussions on there.
If it's something that actually works in a street situation that you're wanting, I'd recommend coming to thai boxing, shootfighting, brazilian jujitsu, kickboxing or judo. If you're looking at it more as a social activity try something else (though I train or have trained at clubs from each of the styles I just mentioned and they're full of friendly people - I wouldn't train at them otherwise!). I've also heard krav maga / kapap is good but haven't had the chance to try it yet.
Hope you find somewhere to suit you! It really does give you more self confidence knowing that you'd be able to handle situations - just be wary of clubs that give you the confidence without anything to back it up (dangerous situation!).
