I'm thinking of moving into a flat in Portland Towers, behind the Cav on West St in July. Has anyone lived there before? I'd like to know a bit about the flats and the area before I sign for the flat. Estate agents only ever mention the good parts!
Thanks.

i think they are all student flats you might get a better responce if you go on the student forum
THEY ARE AWFUL, YES THEY ARE STUDENT FLATS, MOST PEOPLE THAT I KNOW THAT LIVED THERE SUED THEM.
IF YOU WANNA KNOW MORE EMAIL ME BACK, THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN IMPROVED SINCE I WAS THERE, BUT THEY WERE PRETTY BAD. LANDLORD KEPT ALL OUR DEPOSITS WITHOUT GOOD REASON.
THE PLACE WAS FALLING APART, BITOF A RUSH JOB,
MUST ADMIT THE SOCILA LIFE WAS PRETTY GOOD THOUGH
my mates had non stop trouble with them to be honest 2 years ago!

When I was looking for city centre student accomodation for the academic year 2003/2004, Portland Tower was the first place that I checked out. I arranged a viewing on my own over the phone, but when I turned up, the guide said that the apartments could only be booked in groups.
It seemed like a bizarre idea to me, especially considering that Victoria Hall, Devonshire Courtyard and all the university-owned properties allow you to book individually. Surely insisting on group bookings only would made it more difficult to fill all the rooms. :loopy:
I've got a viewing for flat 11 on Monday - any tell tale signs I should look out for? Thanks so much for helping!
