Anyone know any more about this than whats already been printed in the star? I work for Baldwin & Francis Ltd, and its our building that, according to the star tonight, is going to be pulled down and replaced with a new market building. Weve confronted our management and theyve told us that the council hasnt approached them with any plans for us to be made to move. So, whos right? The star or our managers?

Not sure apart from it being built on Earl St. Do a search on the star's website - www.sheffieldtoday.net
scroll towards the bottom and you'll see the search box

I hope they make it a nice continental style market, that would at least be worth having, I don't care for most of the tat that the markets currently sell.

I feel sorry for the traders who are currently on the Moor,I mean they are going to have all the low life that frequent Castlegate moving to their neck of the woods....The shame!

But at least they are building the market on a back street, out of sight out of mind, Well done Sheffield City Council, you get my vote in June!

And also I might feel safer as I walk down to Ponds forge!

And it'll kill the Haymarket end of the City Centre, nobody goes down that end except people who went in the markets or Wilkinsons, except old biddies who frequent the Oxfam charity shop (in which I used to work when the sodding careers service put me on YT at age 19 back in 95, I mean WTF?! Even I knew I was too old for YT at 19, and I was proved right cos most of the others were 16/17 year old school leavers).

***** the careers service! They know nowt, they just put you somewhere for the sake of it so that they don't have to spend time looking for something you actually WANT to do.

Sorry about going on an off topic rant there, I just hated that time of my life.

Whereabouts on or off the Moor will the market be?

Its going to be on Eyre Street, right where the building I currently work in is. Theyll be taking down Baldwin and Francis, the Pump, the HSBC offices and all the rest of that block to make room for it.
