View Full Version : Calling all steam train enthusiasts
sweetdexter 22-12-2005, 17:02 In our local paper was a photo of a double header Christmas special going over the Ribblehead Viaduct.
It identified the lead engine as a 'Standard 4' .
Does anyone know what it was?
The other engine was the Lancashire Fusilier.
I still mark off all train I see in newspapers, books, movies etc;.
I would love to add this to my British Railways Locomotives.
Combined Volume 1953 book

you should know as this type was the fastest steam train in the world! you will be thinking of "Mallard" which is the same A4 class as this one, the one in sheffield last night is actually called "Bittern" but has temporarily been remaned "Dominion of New Zealand"
I've seen the Flying Scotsman with two tenders, but never an A4.
yes it was this one...
