View Full Version : Drugs bust
PaulTansley 03-03-2004, 09:18 In norwood S5 opposite the Tesco on Herries Rd, at around 15.15pm on Tuesday 2 March police swooped on a black car outside an infant school and ceased a car full of drugs and weapons.
The police were lying in wait and a woman was arrested along with some males.
Nice to see some more scumbags off the streets.
Nice work Police.
I'm used to seeing drugs busts/house raids or whatever else you want to call them. I've experienced these at breakfast-time and on the way to and from school and it is frightening, not so much in watching them but knowing how close such people live to you.
I've heard stories from neighbours about so and so's son/daughter who was a lovely little thing and look how they ended up................sad isn't it that some people end up reliant on drugs and so driven by crime? I can only count my blessings that my own children have opted to 'choose life'.
Internetowl 03-03-2004, 10:25 aye, they've been around for a while on Longley estate. Try the post office at the 4 Greens after 6pm if you need a fix or a lady (girl) of ill virtue...
drug abusers do look ill don't they?
fnkysknky 03-03-2004, 12:25 When will the government realise that legalising drugs cuts crime - bloody numptys.
yeah, lets make everything legal, then there will be nobody breaking the law .... ;)
fnkysknky 03-03-2004, 15:38 The idea is you legalise drugs, you give heroin to addicts - they stop stealing to fund their drug habit and the black market disappears.
No - it's a simple economic arguement.
Drug addicts steal because they need the money for drugs. If drugs were available in some form that removed the huge mark up by dealers and smugglers then the amount they need to steal would be considerably less, if anything at all. It is possible for addicts to hold down respectable jobs.
Even better, allow Dr's to prescribe heroin for the treatment of addicts. Interestingly, the mortality rate of addicts treated with methadone is higher than those treated with medical heroin.
fynksynky - apols, we're replying at the same time!
fnkysknky 03-03-2004, 16:00 No probs - nice to see someone thinking along the same lines :D
PaulTansley 03-03-2004, 17:11 Yes i can see you have a valid point in legalising drugs to cut crime, if they want to go and kill themselves then thats there problem.
However the point in my thread is that weapons were found in the car along with drugs and that being outside an infant school makes them scum of the earth.
They were'nt planning on mugging an old lady, they are potential killers and almost certainly dealers and if legalising has one good point is that it will rid the streets of dealers.
I say prescribe the addicts with an over dose and that will cure there addiction for sure.
Shellspeare 03-03-2004, 17:22 first its drugs, then stealing to fund habits then the breakup of families etc etc....... wheres it all going to end? i worry about our childrens future

I worry about my own future! Whats the world comming to? Ilegal goings on seem to be more in our face these days - I am not saying its worse than it was 10 years ago , but we hear a lot more about it now, I think ignorance is bliss in some cases!
PaulTansley 03-03-2004, 17:40 I feel sorry for the woman passer bye who got caught up in this as they pounced on the dealers, the police ordered the woman to stay where she is, your a witness.
Now the last place i would like o be is being a witness in court to dangerous scumbags like them but it appears that she will have no say in the matter, just in the wrong place at the wrong time i guess.
I her the woman is very frightened about the propspect of facing them in court.

These People (http://www.tdpf.org.uk/) are also thinking along similar lines and I urge anyone who cares about the social problems caused by drugs to give this website a thorough going over.
You may not agree with them, but there are weighty points here that are not being considered in the round, and as a result you have to agree that it is a problem literally out of control.
Bring drugs under state and licenced control, rather than letting the organised criminals control them.
And  Cycleracer for starting a thread in which the police get some recognition for the desperately difficult work they do on our behalf.
It may be a mixed bag, but that is no reason to censor the successes.

I knew there'd be something like that in there. Typical police
Not certain about this, but if the police (hurrah for them) found all the gubbins in the car and the evidence is strong then these scum will probably plead guilty at their solicitor's recommendation anyway so the poor woman will probably not have to testify.
Doesn't help her state of mind for the next few weeks though does it. Poor lass. Fingers crossed for her.
Cheers Phanerothyme. Interesting website.
fnkysknky 04-03-2004, 14:31 Yeah I've read through a lot of it before Phan. - cheers for the link tho' :D

Why is it typical police? What is so wrong with ensuring a valuable witness remains in the area long enough to have details etc taken. The unwillingness of people to testify (which in some cases I can fully appreciate) is part of what is keeping so many dangerous and prolific criminals on our streets.
I know it must be scary and very stressful to be involved in such a case, but as already mentioned, the fact such a witness exists may well mean the offenders plead guilty and a trial is avoided.

Sometimes they get it right, but in generall they dont, buit i agree some scum bags put away for a SHORT period of time only
basshedz2 27-07-2006, 07:40 Sorry, i think you meant:
Sometimes they get it wrong, but in generall they dont ...
They do a hard job with little thanks. Mostly they do it well, and its generally only the big f*** ups that make the news.
the-lioness 27-07-2006, 07:43 I think that anyone who does drugs around children is doing something unforgiveable. Even if its just cannabis. The children will grow up thinking its a normal thing to do. Drugs.Ruin.Lives and communities and families. I know a lass who is 27 - from a lovely family and educated and she has been messed up on smack. She was at a party I was at last sat and she looks like an Aids victim in the face and can't talk to you without being parranoid/edgy - its really harrowing to watch. Also when I was younger a family of smackheads were placed next to my mum n dad for a bit - they injected in front of the kids and the house was a real mess, and no this wasn't in a deprived area this was Stannington village so it happens everywere.
